looking at our high temperatures in the inland east bay reaching into the mid 80s. only the low 80s for the south bay. palo alto will reach 76 degrees and low 70s in oakland today. while san francisco will reach into the mid 60s in the north bay we're reaching up to 78 in napa. now, before you make any weekend plans, wanted to talk about this because we know that some people want to light bonfires and grill and may even want to light some fireworks. all of those things are not a good idea right now because we are in a severe drought. take a look at our drought monitor and all the shades that we have here so the orange shade shows that we do have severe drought conditions from the peninsula over towards the east bay extending up to the north bay and with this the sedvegetan is very dry and very brittal and going into the weekend we'll have low humidity and breezy winds along with hot temperatures. we look at the seven-day forecast. we'll see how our temperatures go up several more degrees in time for the fourth of july. as we make weekend plans, once again. be mindful

slow rise this our temperatures that's going to only reach into the low 80s in some parts of the inland east bay. for the south bay up to 78 degrees. palo alto reaching 77 degrees. san francisco cool and foggy. you're going to stay in the low 60s here. heating all the way up to 95 as we don't get that ocean breeze in ukiah or clear lake today. and what's going on here if you've been in the sierra or have friends and family there they've had the storms bubbling up during the past couple of afternoons. we're still looking at the surge of monsoonal moisture coming in causing those storms to develop and what could happen is due to an area of low pressure just off our coast. it could draw in some of that monsoonal moisture. and, kari, a couple of storms across the central valley and possibly into the north bay. the chance of that happening still very slight but it's something i'll be watching over the past -- over the next couple of days and we've seen it happening in the sierra recently. so as we look at our weather pattern overall it's looking pretty quiet here with highs reaching into the low 80s

palo alto up to 80 degrees. 85 in san jose and some upper 80s for the inland east bay.et's talk about what's going on out there in the pacific. we're always monitoring what's happening and we're seeing the warm blob, an area of some warm weather that's warm water along the surface of the pacific. along the equator, la nina is developing. what happens it drives the storm track further to the north so we're seeing that cooling there that may continue. we've seen it happen the past couple of months. for southern california below average rainfall. but for us here in the bay area this could possibly lead into some slightly higher impacts in terms of rain with near normal to above normal rainfall going into our water year. right now it's a weak event. there's a 50% chance of it developing from the fall to winter with near average rainfall potential and the last one we had was a couple years ago. we'll be talking more about this as we go into the next several months seeing if it's developing. right now, though, mike gets you out the door with a look at your commute. >> and you

where we were today in terms of what would've been average, and you really see it was the far inland east bay that is experiencing the most heat. while everybody in the bay noticed a warm up, it was as much as 15 degrees warmer than averaged there. here is tomorrow, a big improvement. the colors look better in concord is only going to be three degrees above average. i will show you exactly what those temperatures mean coming up and you will like them better than what you had today. first, if we look at the big picture, not a cloud out there. early in the newscast, i was showing you a pretty gray ceiling clouds coming into the bay. that will be back tomorrow. for now, there is nothing within 100 miles of the bay area in terms of low clouds. keep your eye on this one sswitis ine future cast, it hooks up on wiaying anwhat ppens along the coast. we feel stronger on short surge in the marine layer starts to fill in a good part of the bay for tomorrow morning. that is how we do our cool downs. right now, it is still 99 in concord. santa rosa your daytime highs are going to look better tomorrow. let

so we're looking at temperatures today that will reach into the upper 80s for the inland east bay and few low 90s as well with some upper 80s in parts of the north bay while the coastal areas stay cool. we are going to stay in this weather pattern but a little bit closer as we go into the rest of today. i did not say siri. let's check out what's going on with our forecast. our temperatures in the low 90s, and up to the mid-90s by the end of the weekend. early next week our temperatures in the upper 80s. and then for san francisco, it stays cool here. our natural air conditioning continues with some upper 60s. all right, mike, how is it looking for the commute? >> making sure all of my external mics are turned off. >>> looking at the commute building and they turned the metering lights on about seven minutes ago. i thought it wasn't going to be until now. five minutes makes a big difference as we look at the toll plaza. forming and building now since they turned the lights on, all lanes filled. no problems getting there but at the toll plaza it's slow from out of the maze and across th

the rest of the inland east bay neighborhoods right around 60. we have its in the mid-50s to sear 60 just about teook at that commute and what you can expect today. it is a little cover over top of us and it will be breezy north of the bay bridge and delta this afternoon and evening commute. it will be cool in san francisco. if you are taking mass transit anywhere else, it will be warm to hot. here is a look at the north bay. we're in the mid-80s praetty close to average this afternoon. if you live in or are traveling to the east bay, mostly cloudy through 8:00, some sunshine at 10:00 and still in the 60s. we'll hang in the low to mid-70s from noon through about 5:00. and quickly dip down to 64 degrees by 8:00 this evening. and san francisco, even cooler, we're stuck in the 50s and pretty cloudy through 10:00. we'll have sun and clouds and mid 60s from noon through 6:00. and maybe a light jacket needed at 8:00 this evening. and we'll have a look at our traffic right now and say gmg to jobina. how are you? >> i'm doing well, mike. thank you. good
