in the inland east bay and we look at the seven-day forecast for this part of the bay which usually goesthrough extreme swings. today's, 101. the inland east bay gives us a good example of how dramatically different most of the rest of the week will be . especially in those places that tend to feel the heat the most. look at the comparison between the two days. from 101 today all the way back over to the 82 that we will have by the time we get to tuesday. that is a very short time to cool down 20 degrees . we will not be there long. the other thing about today i want to talk about before we get into the daytime highs, is the air-quality. you notice some of the haze in the sky that was visible yesterday. the air quality was good yesterday but the forecast for today, this is the forecast for today put out by the bay area air quality management district, we go to moderate. not just the inland east bay, the entire bay , thanks in part to a wildfire burning in the southwest edge of oregon, which you can see on the future cast. the deeper shade of red showed you the smoke coming off of the fla

i would not be surprised that we are still close to 100 degrees in the inland east bay. mid-90s self, but the driver of the cooling will be the return of the marine air going back above 1000 feet and surging inland as we head towards tuesday. so watch the temperature drop for the inland east bay valleys. 70s and 80s, so the ocean air conditioning magically turns back on tuesday and wednesday and we see some cooling. watching low clouds and a stronger sea breeze bringing the heat -- pushing it out of the bay area. another type of cloud we have to watch for would be tropical moisture, mid and high-level clouds. there is tropical storm eugene moving west of baja california and encountering cooler welders offshore, but the system, you notice that right there. there is santa barbara and southern california. there is a chance the second half of the week mike at high clouds closer to the bay area, but for now the best chance for seeing showers in terms of isolated thunderstorms or a few showers here will be down towards l.a. and san diego. something you might see around wednesd

it's going to be hot in the inland east bay. it's still going to be pretty warm in the north bay, reaching 93 in santa rosa. san francisco, low 70s, and 93 in los gatos and morgan hill. tomorrow, temperatures in many spots drop by almost 10 degrees and we're going to have the mild weather into the middle of the week as the high pressure that caused the high heat starts to move away. but then it comes right back by the end of the weekend into early next week. so take a look at concord, where we are going to have a fairly mild week ahead, after today's hot temperatures. and then for saturday and sunday you start to see the trend heading back upward and we're going to see more clouds moving in, more humidity and there will be a tropical system to the south that could spread clouds our way and make it feel more muggy by thursday into friday. i'll have more details on that as we get a little closer. >>> mike, you were looking at the bay bridge? >> in fact, i want to show folks a different view. this is from san francisco, you're look

we'll check in on the inland east bay. we're i inland contra costa county looking down from mount diablo. concord, clayton, antioch, part of walnut creek all in there. here's how the seven-day plays out for this part of the bay. 101 for concord. look back here as soon as you get to tuesday, it's over. monday is still hot, but tuesday is like a distant memory. throughout the rest of the seven-day forecast, it neve comes back. so the comparison that's interesting is the two extremes. tomorrow's 101 compared to the 82 coming back on tuesdaying and then just repeating until the seven-day runs out. so it will be a much nicer weekend in that regard. that covers kind of the cool down. but in terms of what happens tomorrow, if we look at the numbers, what would average be for tomorrow? 88 in concord. look at oakland. you'll be abou seven degrees above average. hayward about five degrees abov the mark. san jose a couple of degrees above it. it will be 86 in hayward tomorrow. san jose u to 90. and there's the 101 for concord. so jus

east bay, yesterday we were dealing with 90s over there. today we're going to be sitting in the 80s widespread through the east inland hills and even in the north for us all throughout this afternoon. that's going to last into our wednesday forecast and thursday forecast too. and we're also going to see a lot more clouds with that system. now we have fog this morning. a lot of it actually. just along our coastline. visibility for the most part not an issue in our inland areas but a later this afternoon that breaks apart and inland east bay and still stay cloudy along the coastline. low clouds stick around for us is also a late week warming trend. below average today but we see some changes in the forecast late this week. we're kicking off the first couple of days after owing though with below average temperatures as low pressure moves its way in. here's what we're looking at today. 60s from our coast off into the bay area. our inland areas only really averaging out in the low 80s. with mostly sunny conditions over there. dense clouds and even coastal moisture for the next couple of days closer to pacifica and half-moon bay and even stinson beac

mid to upper 90s through the inland east bay valleys. close to 90 in san jose. hose isolated showers. notice all the activity inland. we did have thunder and lightning around stockton in the last hour. these are strong thunderstorms moving a way from the sierra. they're weakening as they drift west but over the next 24 hours, what's left of that is going to spill towards the bay area. as we're beginning to see right now on approach, through the day tomorrow, better chances actually lift towards the north bay tomorrow. we'll have a slight chance of those showers, 11:00 tonight. mainly central bay and areas south towards san jose into tomorrow morning. shower chances begin to move northward into the north bay as we head towards monday evening. now, you see that on the futurecast. here is the issue. in terms of how much measurable rainfall we're expecting out of this, almost nothing. however, there is that slight chance of isolated thundershowers. if we get any lightning strikes and the dry conditions combined with the daytime temperatures, that's why fire danger is

we had thunderstorms firing up in the inland east bay. but the opportunity still exists for more of these showers to drift from east to west over the bay area as we head through the day tomorrow. notice the focus around the central bay, around monterey bay for the morning and the trend for the afternoon should be more focussed toward the north bay. here's how things look heading into tomorrow morning's commute. more isolated showers possible, then once we pass lunchtime you can see how more of that activity shifts on up to the north. there's not a lot of rain associated, other than the brief shower that pass by with isolated cells. we really to not want to see any more lightning strikes. inland highs of the east bay, upper 90s to maybe 105 in solano county. 80s and 90s. maintaining the 70s and 80s bay side. thursday temperatures come down just a little bit. but for more significant cooling out of those 90s, you're probably going to have to wait towards friday and saturday. strong high pressure. the trough of low pressure will bring us a se

and where we're headed, mostly some upper 60s and low 70s with some parts of the north bay, the inland east baysouth bay, reaching into the low 80s. so the farther inland you go, the temperatures are warmer. you're really going to start to feel that warm-up tomorrow where we may have to crank on the air conditioner for a while. livermore reaching 90 degrees. we'll see about the same in fairfield. we'll still have some spots around parents of the bay area that will be mild with upper 70s. it will start to heat up as you head farther north. by sunday, we're seeing the temperatures going up even more so, so we're looking at some mid-90s. as we get the drier air, hotter temperatures coming in, it will be clear this weekend for the peak of the perseid meteor shower. this is the best meteor shower of the year, and we have only about a 24% moon. so if you're patient, you have a bi, clear sky, you may see anywhere from 150 to 200 meteors per hour. here's an event that may have you outside in the evening as well. music on the square later this evening in redwood city. temperatures go from 72 degrees to
