the moderate air quality readings will be kind of clustered in the north bay and inland in the east bay and we should see pretty good air quality across the entire bay area sunday, monday, and tuesday. fog spreading out. temperatures in the low to mid-60s across the board. not a lot of variation. later tonight we end up in the mix of 50s and 60s, but the fog is widespread pushing deep across the bay. it can overcome the various terrain obstacles and push well over the barrier hillsides and inland valleys to start the day, but it backs up quickly. starts to break up around the baby late morning. the coast won't see a lot of sunshine tomorrow. high temperatures tomorrow running two to four degrees below average around the bay, but five to six degrees below average farther inland except the santa clara valley because you'll still be close to normal. but temperatures in the mid to upper 70s and low 80s inland east bay, that's well below what's typical for the middle of september. upper 60s and low 70s around the bay with mostly mid-70s for the north bay. the exception is much fact north in

tuesday and wednesday, just slightly warmer for inland east bay.hat many big changes there but thursday looks more like temperatures will come down as the wind speeds pick up. we see showers to the east over the sierra and a bit of a northwind picking up that will bring a cooler air down. not just cooler air, look at this. a chance of significant showers for areas to the east which could involve, watch this closely as the system drops down. you want to see if there is cooler air involved, there it is their. a chance for elevations above 9000 and 10,000 feet to have snow showers. it will missus in the bay area. there is another look. that clears out. the high pressure should build back enough next weekend that the temperatures rebound closer to the averages we have missed this weekend. san francisco, closer to 70 or the low 70s heading towards next weekend and the valley temperatures which have been lagging behind will finally have a chance to get more summerlike as we start fall next weekend. we will get there eventually.>> we will get to fall even

when we look at the inland east bay, it is a similar story. let's look at the interesting point in the seven-day forecast. we will look at the microclimate for the inland parts of the bay. we are still mid-80s, wednesday and thursday, not a lot of change but by friday the temperatures have come down and saturday is the day where things get interesting. that is the day where we look at the possibility for perhaps a 10% chance of rain. not the biggest odds, i did not put arrange up on but we will watch it and we will have more on that over the next 24 to 36 hours . let's see what this looks like in a seven-day forecast for the bay. you have your mid and upper 70s over here . not a lot of change for wednesday and thursday. friday the number comes down. by saturday, call it a 10% chance of rain. not a big enough odds right now to start putting it in the seven day. but we may do that over the next 24 hours in the forecast. stay with us on this and we will have updates as we go. >>> the niners are red hot getting ready for sunday's matchup with the c

here's how we started to dip down for the inland, east bay. look at the deeper shades of green, stronger onshore flow just pulled in some more smoke sitting off the coast. it's going to stay this way likely overnight. here's friday, lighter shades of blue. we don't see another inundation that's as strong as today, but we aren't clearing the smoke out. the takeaway is there's an air quality advisory through tomorrow. whatever you're doing to go easy on yourself, keep doing it tomorrow even though the air quality technically might even be a little better tomorrow than it is today. it's still going to be unhealthy for sensitive groups for too much of the day for too much of the bay. just keep doing what you're doing and by saturday things get better. temperaturewise we're below average, everybody, except it was 81 in san jose. santa rosa was 10 degrees below average today. let's talk about the chance of rain. pacifica is starting to look like fall and here comes the very first system of fall. officially fall starts tomorrow night late like a litt

rest of today, we will see those temperatures warming up to around 80 degrees lunchtime, inland in the east bay with the hottest spots this afternoon topping out around 90. other inland spots staying in the 80s. >>> and today could be a perfect day to go to the beach. some of us like to do that with our dogs, and you probably don't think twice about letting them play by the water. but now there is something to warn you about that could actually make you both, you and your pets, sick. dead sea lions are washing ashore on northern california beaches in greater numbers than experts usually see most are infected with a life-threatening bacteria called leaptosupportosis. this bacteria can survive for weeks or months in soil. at least 20 dead sea lions have been found around bodega bay and fort bragg. now, while not all of them have been confirmed to be infected. the marine mammal center says they are seeing cases more often. some sea lions are recovering at the center's hospital. andria nakano shows how this could be deadly to your dogs and how you can keep your pets safe. >> reporter: for bridgette

as the band of showers works east, it's going to start falling apart as it moves across the bay area. the farther inlando, east bay and santa clara valley in particular, the the lower the overall rain chances and less the amounts you can expect. and it's out quickly. we clear out by mid-morning tomorrow. plenty of sunshine for the rest of the day. so how much rain are we talking about? let's bring in the numbers on the floor map and navigate around different parts of the bay area. for the santa clara valley, minimal totals. similar amounts inland in the east bay. 0 or barely a trace. the numbers go up a little as we get around the central bay for san francisco and oakland. maybe a few hundredths of an inch of total rainfall. the best chance is the north bay. but even in those location, we're not talking about much at all. a few hundredths of an inch. even santa rosa where the rain is coming down, it's less than a tenth of an inch of total rainfall. it's not going to put an end to fire season, but we'll take what we can get. in terms of where we stand right now, there's the cloud cover looking out from s

there may be some minor improvements for san francisco, but still a high concentration for the inland east bay as well as the south bay, which will give us a verier cloful sunset. but you don't want to be out there for too long. then tomorrow it looks like a bigger plume of smoke makes it into parts of the north bay and right along the coast, but if we do have a westerly wind, that could carry that right into the bay area once again for tomorrow morning into the afternoon. so we could at times see some shifting air quality. we talked about the inversion layer, and this is what happens every morning if we are under our normal weather pattern in the bay area. so, we have high pressure aloft, which causes very dry and warm air, and a light wind to just kind of sit down, and it creates this cap or a lid over the bay area. then as our temperatures cool during the overniht hours, that cool air sinks to the surface and traps in that smoke and keeps the highest amount of pollutants right there at the levels where we are having to breathe it in. not only that, but we have some milder temperatures, so i
