kind of heat that heat related risk only gets higher as we step out thursday afternoon again, inland east bay communities, those areas in purple have a very high risk for heat related illness. so this is the time of year that you need to plan you need to make sure you stay indoors during peak daytime heating hours, and you find ways to beat the heat because it is dangerous. this time of year is a huge heat dome, a huge area of high pressure is building overhead. that area of high pressure will arrive. it already has arrived and it will continue to impact us through tomorrow and thursday. again. it will peak inland tomorrow, but it will persist through thursday and maybe even friday afternoon will be excessive. it's not going to be as hot as tomorrow and thursday though, but it's the dry air that's sticking around. that, unfortunately, is creating fire weather concerns fire weather concerns are going to be an issue as well as air quality. so if we look at the air quality risk over the next couple of days, it is going to be elevated, especially for inland east bay communities and down into the

the inland east bay by 14 degrees. so definitely noticing the difference i'm sure giving you a view here of the numbers. it's a cool one near half moon bay at 64. but you go inland 70 in san francisco into the north bay, 81 santa rosa, and for the inner east bay, right now 90 degrees in livermore. a little bit of a tour here where we have upper 80s already reported in one neighborhood of rohnert park on the peninsula, a warm day here. stanford 83 degrees reported for you. there and for the inner east bay. again, looking at some of the hotter temps for today. upper 80s clayton as well as pittsburg. already the heat advisory began just about an hour ago. it will go until tuesday evening. notice where it includes away from the coast and away from our bay side communities. north bay not included in this right now, but our inland cities, both hills and valleys included, as well as the santa clara valley and stretches over towards the santa cruz mountains. better look at the temperatures. what we can expect for your afternoon

we have a heat advisory in effect until 8:00 this evening for the east bay hills and the inland valleys of the east bay. high temperatures in that area will range from mid 90s to about 100 today. and of course, with that kind of excessive heat, there is an increased risk of heat related illness, but relief is not far away. looking at satellite radar composite image, you see that the marine layer has already begun returning to the coastline. those clouds are only going to get deeper and thicker and expand during the overnight hours. and they've also they are also generating an an onshore breeze right now. we've got wind speeds right now at the surface at 15 to nearly 20mph near the coast, and the bay, and it will be even cooler as we get into the evening hours right now. check out the 24 hour change seven. well, five to 7 to 9 degrees cooler, generally across those areas you see on the map there than at this time yesterday. that's pretty impressive. so on we go. the view from sutro tower. looking out over san francisco, you see a little thin finger of fog pushing out over the bay. right

conditions in the inland east bay and south bay in particular and those areas you will be seeing they compounded with some of our warmest of temperatures today. all of us are going to be on the warm side with this high-pressure ridge that's built in firmly to the west. winds are not a huge factor. that's actually part of the reason that air quality is going to be so bad. but just enough of a wind to nudge out any sort of cool ocean breeze. and that's the warm-up occurs all the way out to the ocean. it's not super common that you see the entire coastline, the bayshore and our inland areas lit up and heat advisories like we do have starting at 11:00am today lasting through tomorrow on until 11:00pm on wednesday. now, of course, with this heat, a little bit of wind, we do have high fire danger this time of year. brush grass is about as dry as they get. so any sort of spark could result in a fast-moving blaze. we see those gradients of yellow and orange in the the span, especially the north bay. some of our really high fire danger areas as we move through the next few days. and today is

, 104 105 in dublin and livermore, and also looking at highs over 100 degrees for much of the inland east bay, as well as pretty widespread across the north bay. that's when we have the peak of the heat, but it's still going to be very hot. and when you get day after day of extreme temperatures, you start to see that also having an impact on people who live in those areas. with the lack of air conditioning or prolonged exposure you are going to have. unfortunately this causing some health issues as well. high pressure is moving in, but it will also be quickly moving out by the middle of the week into the weekend. it will still be over the southwest and at least for us, we're going to see the return for the coastal areas to see some more mild weather. but some of our valleys will continue to see more heat over the next few days, with napa looking at hot temperatures extending at least into the weekend, but then looking a little bit better for the middle of next week. with our 7-day forecast showing a lot of 90s and triple digits. i know it's fall. we were hoping to not see numbers like this, b
