innocence project took on malcolm's case, how confident were you that he had been wrongly convicted? i know a lot of folks reach out to the innocence project. how confident were you about this particular case? >> i think the innocencearted working on malcolm's case, we spent a lot of time talking to him. we spent a lot of time reviewing his trial transcripts, removing the police reports. and one of the things that struck me and the attorneys working at the project and all the students was that there was nothing there, other than one witness who had all of the physical evidence in his custody less than 24 hours after the crime. i could see no reason why they went after malcolm and de marco. i was struck by that. we went and talked to him while he was in prison, and i put every one of my clients, when i'm working on their case, through a wringer, kind of, of asking questions, asking information, trying to understand how this happens to individuals, just like malcolm. and it was a long road. it was not an easy road. it was not a smooth, straight road. there were a lot of twists and turns, there were a lot of tears, there were frustrations. malcolm stuck with us, we tried to stick with malcolm. we were so happy when he
