mike inouye joins us now. i understand it was a rollover. >> sounds like a rollover, then two other cars so a total of three cars. it happened past the toll plaza. we have our live camera. i want to show you the view on the incline as you go away from us you see in the middle of the screen flashing lights. all of the activity is blocking a couple of lanes, maybe three. in fact, christie smith, our reporter was there, first on the scene. my main concern first of all are there major injuries? >> reporter: well, two people were injured and they were transported but i saw one woman pulled out of an suv that turned over on its side. she was hurt, she had a wound on her head but she was able to walk so that's the good news. both of the people injured were able to walk, so i wanted to show you a little bit about what is going on. they are kind of cleaning up three lanes shut down but telling me they will have this open in five or ten minutes. an suv was disabled here for some reason, and another car plowed in behind

let's check your drive with mike inouye. >> south bay continues to change. not dramatically.f 101 your commute, it cleared up. we're at 61. still the volume increases up to 880, keep that in mind. highway 87 we see the 40s and 50s up between capital and curtner. so guadeloupe that's an issue. right around 17 and heading up into cupertino. the rest of the commute, heading up the lower bay, smooth drive now. no problems. the southbound side we have seen slowing out of redwood city. in the 40s and 50s, right around 55 but that is a note for an early indication more on the roads and the peninsula as well. across the bay, 680 an issue southbound 680 over on mission. reports of a disabled vehicle. no slowing heading to the funnel. 880 moves smooth heading to the south bay out of union city and newark. moving up toward the area of the livermore area. tri-valley, smooth drive. no problems into livermore. some slowing around the isabelle interchange and at the dublin as well. that's a typical pattern for a friday. over the maze a short time ago now over the approach to the bay bridge,

first let's check your drive with mike inouye. >>> the shot from san francisco, you see the stream of headlights moving into the city. we did get reports from chp that's what they call the slow roller. a car that's having trouble lisping along that upper deck and it was getting off over toward the san francisco side. sounds like it may just be clearing from the bridge and i do see headlights continuing to move smoothly from treasure island into san francisco. that's the upper deck in your commute direction. but back at the toll plaza we have a back-up now forming because after that slow roller was reported, they turned on those metering lights just after 6:00 a.m. it is about 20 minutes early for this thursday. the back-up already going to the 880 overcrossing. then in the last few minutes, another disable vehicle reported near treasure island. may be blocking one lane as you approach that tunnel. that's why there's even more slowing. but, the approach coming off the berkeley curve still moves smoothly. this will take a few minutes for our sensors to adjust. the rest of the feeder rou

first we begin with mike inouye with a look at why the closure is happening in the first place. >>> good morning, folks. the bay bridge is indeed closinç tonight, 8:00 p.m., no access. this is just the westbound upper deck. getting over from oakland into san francisco, this is the sign you've seen all over the bay area. some folks are wondering why that is happening. it's not the final stage of completion but it will help in the long run. let me show you this animation that caltrans has given us. this will give you an idea of what's going on. if you're taking the bridge over from the toll plaza side and heading over to san francisco you'll come across the metering lights just before the incline right here at the bottom of the screen. when it opens on tuesday it will have a gentle curve you see outlined in orange there. the gentle curve is there because they have to move the roadway from where it exists right now over this way so we can work on the landing site as you come off of the bridge. that's for the future. folks will be pushed over. there's the eventual reality of bay bridge. that

here's mike inouye with more information on how to get across the bay without the bridge. >> hey, nowsed, a quick note. this is only the upper deck, getting from the oakland side into san francisco. so here's your note. you want to get into san francisco. the best option for you guys is b.a.r.t. use that to get under the water from oakland to san francisco. they have extended their service, running 24 hours throughout the closure. a great opportunity for you to try this system, if you haven't yet already. okay, maybe you need that car, absolutely do. here are some options for you as well. drive south on 880 and take that through oakland adding to the traffic past the coliseum and folks will take the 92 interchange, the san mayato bridge over to the peninsula where you'll join up to 101, taking it up past the san francisco airport and past candlestick route. to the north, south shore freewfree way towards the san rafael side and then town towards the golden gate bridge. a beautiful try, but a note. two-toll route. costs you twice as much. folks, the bay bridge is closed so if to nbc ba
