one was returned to iowa. the other one was involved in numerous crimes in the state of missouri, i believe. and he is still in that state facing additional charges. the inmate that was returned to the iowa state penitentiary was charged for escape. he pled guilty and the sentencing is tomorrow. he'll receive a five-year consecutive term. >> one of the inmates, martin moon, now resides in cell house 220, a far cry from the freedom he had a few months ago. he is once again serving a life sentence for killing a man in a dispute over drugs. moon insists he is not guilty. >> me being an innocent person, i've been compelled more than say the person that knows they're guilty and have been found guilty. i feel they tend more to lay down and do their time and accept the punishment. i'm not willing to lay down and accept the punishment. i've been here going on my sixth year. i still got a couple steps in my appeal process left. when an opportunity arises to escape like i did, you've got to take it while the opportunity

do you remember the iowa caucuses? of the iowa caucuses we were told by the iowa republican party that mitt romney had won. it was really close, but mitt romney won. then the iowa republican party changed their mind. the chairman said first, okay, mitt romney didn't win, it was a tie. then he said, no -- okay, it wasn't actually a tie, nor did mitt romney win. okay, actually rick santorum won. then by the time the iowa state convention rolled around and they actually had to do the thing that results in helping nominate a presidential candidate, we found out that it wasn't a tie and it wasn't rick santorum and it wasn't mitt romney, it was actually ron paul who won the most delegates in iowa. that was in june, about five months after the caucuses. that was a microcosm of the entire republican primary experience in 2012. you had states like florida moving up their primary trying to be first against the party's wishes and then getting punished for it. you had campaigns that could not get their paperwork together in order

in fact, they're already organizing for the iowa caucuses. she came in third in iowa back in 2008.e super pac ready for hillary already pushing for her to win iowa next time. is that an inevitable clinton candidacy? is that inevitable now? >> well, more and more people you talk to in the clintons' circle believe that she is going to run. definitively. obviously publicly she's not said that and there's no indication that's going to come any time soon but you're right, that this effort on the ground in iowa is pretty unprecedented. if you talk to people there, how organized it is and you have the priorities for action, the group that was with obama when he was running and supporting them with med a campaign and social media, that's aligned itself with hillary clinton ahead of any announcement that the candidacy is imminent. so i think there will be a machine in place should she choose to run. jon: so the president's former campaign apparatus is supporting hillary clinton. what does that say to joe biden? >> he may have a tough road ahead if he chooses to get in this race. jon: intere

clinton looks pretty good in iowa, at least she does today.another problem. peter hamby is our cnn national political correspondent. peter, reading your piece on cnn.com, iowa democrats are in like with hillary clinton. why not in love? >> that's a great way to put it, brooke. look, hillary clinton has always had some problems with the democratic base. she's perceived as perhaps too moderate, too close to wall street. you know, this hurt her in 2008 in iowa because of the iraq war. liberals grew in the direction of john edwards or barack obama. i spent a week out there and they said there is space for a progressive. it's someone who is not a clinton, someone who is perhaps younger, representing a new generation, a new face in the party. you hear that a lot. >> so who would that be? do they tell you? >> well, yeah. if you ask people, you get a variety of names. but none of them, you know, seem to be a top tier figure. martin o'malley, the governor of maryland. john kerry, elizabeth warren, kristen gillibrand. who is going to be the person that
