the first-ever iowa ag summit and really looking forward to it. to change the direction of this government more than we ever have in my lifetime. i can't say i'm in, but i'm certainly looking at it. >> the iowa ag summit? where are you on ethanol? >> well, that's a complicated thing, but the big question is how do we revise rural america society and economically? i have a lot of thoughts on that. i grew up, believe it or not, governor of new york grew up on a small farm in upstate new york. i have a lot of thoughts on ethanol. i don't believe in government mandates or in government telling people what they have to buy but i think there are a lot of opportunities for clean, domestic renewable fuels like ethanol in the united states. >> so those of us who are following you when should we look for to you make this decision, whether you're in or out of this presidential race? >> i don't have a time frame on that. the important thing get out and talk to the american people. been here in iowa doing it, in new hampshire going to the freedom summit down i

iowa. we are here at this brand-new ag summit. it is coveted by republican wannabes. that includes jeb bush. in his first to iowa in a long time. he was welcomed in hawkeye style today by the headline above the register that said "some of you bush skeptically -- the use -- view bush skeptically." and he was asked, is there bush fatigue in iowa? >> the iowans that i know are thoughtful and they want to get to know the candidates. my answer to your question is that i will go make my case. most people know my record as governor and my life experience, so i will get a fair hearing. >> we will be here tomorrow streaming live from jeb bush and other potential candidates. let's start with jeb. what are the stakes for him and what should people be looking for on this big trip? >> first of all, he has to prove that he is a conservative. there is a suspicion as you know, that he is not, that he is a moderate. he has to make that case. he started to do it in an aggressive way in florida. and he has to do the retail thing. you know, i saw him and las vegas, he was pretty good out

as i try to describe and try to capture in this age, i was from a town in rural iowa never heard of "he new york times." i had never been east of chicago. i didn't watch network news. i was a cheerleader. i was a baton toward her. and -- twirler. and it opened up all the world at a thing to do for so many people because there was no other way to have contact. they were distinct. the accents were different jersey texas, boston. it was a time when people who participate in student government were phi beta kappa smart, many of them were brilliant orators. barney frank and you would've heard in the early 60s. jeff greenfield, a journalist that is done cnn, abc cbs. he was the editor then of the cargo at the university of wisconsin. so i had never heard political debate. i was from a family that was very engaged in the community but it was a civic duty. i had no sense of partisanship. i didn't know the difference between republicans and democrats, and almost failed a sophomore english exam on dickens because i didn't know the difference between republicans and democrats. that's changed. >>

ag summit. kasie hunt joins me now in the studio. do you have a bag packed? >> i do not have a bag packed for iowahighly recommend you get warm socks, knowing you you'll probably be at the ag summit. how much do these results for the straw poll really hold water when it comes to 2016? well, look rand paul and his father ron paul expert at winning straw polls, they put a lot of effort into it and a lot of the people that attend are young and more libertarian. it was widely expected he was going to win. the fact that bush outperformed a number of other conservatives down that list shows that they organized well they got their supporters to the summit and made sure it wasn't the embarrassment that it could have been. and he clearly was a little bit nervous when he first took the stage. he seemed to get more into a rhythm as we went in with the q and a with hannity and showed he would be a formidable presence on the stage. >> when we think about the straw poll it's an indicator but the fact the crowd wasn't all that jazzed to see jeb bush he got booed? >> this was never going to be his crowd. they bro
