what caused the ipod downfall?actor, the transition from traditional hard drive to the solid state memory. that is better able to handle life's of bumps and bruises, in the old days if you drop your ipod you had to replace it, but with an indoor models like the ipod national and touch, consumers need to replace the device is much less often. also stores and plays music despite all this, the ipod still maintains a 70% share of the mp three player market which makes it tough for apple to simply drop the ipod entirely. so, what should apple do? some analysts say they should add wireless connectivity other say lowering the price of the ipod touch and phasing out older models might help. what ever apple decides to do, we should find out soon, the company traditionally refreshes the ipod line up in the fall, right before the holiday shopping season begins. >> here is a shot from the twin peaks just a few hours ago and the fog already is pushing into the bay. it actually has been here all day. slowed to clear, a few break
