i was in the army from may of 223 to 2007 and was to iraq for the most of 2005 on november 29th of two. my which was going to be neutral and our patrol was struck by an improvised explosive device. the blast was a big one and actually shook the buildings on base, which was about two miles away. severed my right arm and left leg. and fortunately, everyone in our patrol quikclot on them and were able to utilize to start the bleeding in my leg and then help slow the some of the bleeding that was in my arm. so that pretty much stabilized me and was able to buy enough time to to to get me to the medical facility in baghdad where i had underwent further treatment. for i was able to connect with with charles. he reached out to me and doing some research for the book and afterward wrote about my experience and and kind of the process of my injury and i have been very fortunate that i've been able to connect with medical personnel that have helped me along the way and been able one show my appreciation them and then share the story of the work they did during time when i needed them the most. v
