irena, thank you for coming in. good to see you, good to speak with you. >> a pleasure. and i like the location. >> it is a beautiful view, isn't it? let's hope it stays that way. can you explain to us what it's been like for you over the last couple days, last couple weeks? because like so many families, yours has been split apart. your husband is in the capital kyiv. there is constant anxiety of not knowing what's happened. how do you deal with that? >> you know, this russia's war against ukraine is going on for eight years. so, we got used to everything and i was focused on this war during all these years. but i never expected that this russian full-scale invasion could come to my city, too. so this month was probably the longest month of my life, and i went through all five stages of grief. at the moment, i am -- i accept it, that we are at war. >> yeah. and you said -- i think i read somewhere you said it is a bit like a movie and you are a filmmaker, so you feel it is a bit like a movie. almost surreal, i guess? >> yeah, but that is our reality. and we should face

joining me is the prosecutor general of ukraine, irena benedictiva.morning. these ten russian soldiers, what is it that you are alleging they did? >> my dear friends, thank you very much for having me. yes, we identified 15 russian soldiers in kyiv region. in bucha, but the whole number for today, it is 15. raping, torturing, and murders. this is the main -- our article with which we will go to the court with this war criminals. >> the number is now 15. rape, torture and murder. i am curious, at least the list i saw when it was ten included only privates and noncommissioned officers. not leadership. are you able to identify the leadership that may have issued orders for this to take place? >> of course for us very important to -- soldiers, commanders and -- we understand we have very good category in the international humanitarian law. it means responsibility. these russian soldiers, russian soldiers in bucha, who actually tortured people and murdered -- it's, again, from 64th brigade. that brigade which president putin gave them -- putin honored them

and i want you to introduce you to irena. she is a mother of two.e lawyer in lviv, but now, she is living with her two kids in a seminary krakow of within 20 minutes, she backed one back, and she said goodbye to her husband who couldn't leave ukraine. and left home not knowing when she was gonna see her home, her husband, her life again. take a listen to just some of our conversation. >> our life changed. at one moment, you know. but my children are now my future. and i would do everything to make them happy. to make them feel safe. and to get back to normal life. >> so the question everyone is asking herself now, do i get a job? do i put my kids in polish schools? do we start to learn the language? she is not certain about that right now because she tells me she's not ready yet to commit to building a life outside of her home, outside of ukraine, outside of lviv. and that's what we're hearing from so many people, alicia. but the heartbreaking reality is, for some, there may not be a home to come back to. and that's when we were at the border talkin

joining us now is irena maleah, a high school teacher in kyiv who teaches english. been going so far? what's it like teaching remotely while your country is at war? >> hi, jonathan, thanks for everything. it's still hard to understand how russia's full invasion of my country could be possible in such a terrifying way. and i remember our last lesson just the other day before the war, in our office that was damaged after an air attack. and when i first saw the video of the destruction i just couldn't believe they could do such a thing with schools, hospitals and so on. and that's one of the many war crimes russians have made to the civilians. >> how has the war, and we're looking at these horrendous pictures of what's happened to your classroom, how has this war impacted your students? have you had a chance, had to change or lessons or how you interact with your students? >> yeah, many of my students are forced to leave their homes, their houses. with anything. so they don't have their laptops, phones or headphones or books. just to try to continue education process.

. >> reporter: irena in a happier time. before the russians came. after the invasion in early march just moments before her death. she is seen cycling through bucha heading towards a large number of russian vehicles as she approaches a corridor, she dismounts. one of the vehicles fires. she moves around the corner out of sight and it fires again and again, at least five more times. then, a large muzzle flash from a second concealed vehicle. moments later, smoke rises from near that corner. a different video geolocated by cnn to the same corner shows a dead woman on the ground next to a bike. other images of that body clearly show her hand and her distinctive nails. the woman who only recently taught her how to apply makeup recognized them instantly. >> because she started to love herself. this woman was incredible. >> reporter: she didn't need to see the nails to know that was her mother's body. she tells me she doesn't know what she feels now. it is such a void, she says. when i saw it was my mother, the war faded away. the war ended with her and i
