tonight's program is a part of our bernard and irene schwartz distinguished speaks series and as always i'd like to think mr. swartz for his great generosity and leadership which has enables to us bring so many prominent speakers to the stage. i'd also just like to mention that our chairman emeritus, roger hertzog hoped to be here but his travel schedule conflicts with the programming. susan hertzog, who has as advised us is here and thank fer for all she has down on behalf of new york historical.
