. >> joining us now from austin is victoria de francesco soto.you. >> let's talk a little bit about the republican problem with hispanics. we speem i think have all paid attention to what mitt romney has said in the leadup in this primary race about hispanics. he's in a lot of ways tried to marginalize them, denny great a lot of the hispanic experience in america but he seems to be trying to soften that stance presumably going into the general election. what do you make of it, and do you think his panic voters, how do you think that plays out among latinos and hispanics notice u.s.? >> alex, he has gone too far to the right on the issue of immigration for him to start softening and makeny substantive change. really, this is something we've seen since 2010, the republican party take a very harsh stance against immigration. what's so interesting is that the republican party during the bush years was very open to reforming immigration, had a very compassionate view towards immigration reform. and what we've seen is a 180 over the past two years. now
