if there is a spill, what happens to iowa's water? the long term? of course as cheryl mentioned the climate change issue is really important. this is not the type of pipeline iowa has had built. iowa has lots of pipelines. there are lots of pipelines, but this is a little bit different because, significantly different because of the amount of crude oil that would go through it. we only have, when i asked the utilities board they said we only have two currently permitted crude oil pipelines. one is defunct and the other crosses about 12 miles of iowa in southeast iowa. a, it's a very large pipeline. second, we don't have many crude oil pipelines. there's some risk with this. if you do the math, the amount of oil that would go through this pipeline is equivalent to something like 15 coal burning power plants. now, is it the utilities board to make a decision about national and international climate policy? well, in my view it's all of our responsibilities to deal with climate change. none of us asked for the problem, but we do need to deal with it. i h

we will see if there is more forecast. steve: an iowa state university morning in a hit and run crash near campus. kcci's vanessa peng is live where it happened. and vanessa, we now know the name of the victim, right? vanessa: steve, police just killed. emmalee jacobs is an 18-year-old freshman from urbana. she was hit at lincoln way and ash avenue normally a busy intersection. lots of cars and students crossing there all the time. ames police say jacobs was hit sometime between 6:30 and 7:00 this morning. an iowa state university police officer drove up to the intersection just after 7:00 and saw her lying in the middle of ash avenue. jacobs was taken to mary greeley medical center where she died from her injuries. police say they are reviewing surveillance video and don't have any witnesses at this time. >> based on what we saw with the victim's injuries it looked they were pretty significant and then so we'd have to believe that someone knew that they hit a person at that location. vanessa: police are asking for the public's help. if
