sea isle city and atlantic city into ship bottom, the rain showers will be hugging the coast for theof the day. heavy rainfall moved through philadelphia and it's now impacting the trenton area, mercer county into northern burlington county. just to the north of pemberton. heavy rainfall that's moving to the northeast and in the lehigh valley. showers are still in the area. allentown seeing moderate rainfall while it's starting to taper off, there's still light rain showers in the reading area and moving through northern chester county. we're getting a drenching in some areas this morning. through the day today. we'll see clouds hang in there. not looking for a big warmup. 67 in ocean city, atlantic city, those temperatures will barely budge. inland, you can see the 70s. that's where they'll stay for much of the day. the futurecast shows at 9:00. more heavy rainfall moving onshore. that line of showers will make plo guess and impacting the philadelphia area with more downpours at lunch time today. those showers will extend into the suburbs. look at 2:00 this afternoon from chester co

cape may, sea isle city, inland we've seen heavy downpours.ee some scattered showers in new jersey for gloucester and camden counties. in philadelphia, rain was drenching rain overnight. those showers and some thunderstorms now have moved off to the northeast. those storms moving to the northeast at 25 miles an hour. starting to pull away from trenton. there's still a good downpour moving into the trenton area. farther north and west, allentown, lehigh valley, berks county, you haven't been left out of the rain. scattered light rain in berks county. there's a chance we'll see more showers and possibly thunderstorms develop this afternoon. there you can see reading area getting light rain showers. that also is moving off to the northeast at 25 miles an hour. it will be drying out in the short term in the reading area. all this moisture coming up from the south will keep the chance of more showers and thunderstorms with us during the day, especially likely to see that rain hugging the coastline. farther inland, less likely to see the rain during

we've got a picture of what it was like this morning when the beach was packed here in isle of palms-- people out for the memorial day weekend. not sure if they knew a tropical system was coming, but they didn't seem to mind, so they wme and then so did the rain, and that's when they scattered. as our cameras arrived, people started to leave. sme decided they would stay under the umbrellas to ride out the rain-- what is a little rain rain state that gets a lot of heat in the summer? but now, as we come back live, 24e beach is clear, not many people out except the people in the water. seena, we are told this would be a rain event for next 24, maybe 36 hours. an is going to be more of a nuisance than a life-threatening situation. this is a tropical storm, and, camember, reena, hurricane season hasn't even started yet. hat's june 1st. >> ninan: david begnaud, thank you so much. chief meteorologist eric fisher is tracking the storm at our boston station, wbz. eric, what's the latest? >> reporter: well, reena, we have been watching the storm over the course of today, it's still a little bi

and this sort of pace extends the whole way from sea isle through this point up to the a.c. expressway this afternoon. we've been looking at delays like this since 10:00 this morning and they continue in full force this afternoon with speeds like 13 miles per hour on the northbound parkway. if you're taking the back roads along 50 don't forget we've got that bridge construction north of tuckahoe. what they're doing now is they're letting only northbound traffic through there so coming southbound you can't get into tuckahoe. the bridge is closed to you this afternoon. on the a.c. expressway, it's not terrible once you get there having all the toll lanes back at the egg harbor toll plaza definitely helping us out. once you good tote 42 moderate to heavy traffic in the northbound lanes by creek road headed up toward 295. coming into jersey at the delaware memorial bridge speeds in the 20's coming out of new castle and in new castle county in newark a truck flipped over so 273 is closed there by the post office at 72. stick with 72 instead. also don't forget we're on strange sch

10's" matt delucia has a look at what the weather means for the people marking the holiday in sea isle city. >> reporter: a big change from what we saw at the jersey shore on saturday and sunday. now it is wet and cool right here on the promenade. this is what we've seen throughout most of the morning. also in ocean city where we were earlier today. those who are coming out here, they have got the umbrellas, they've got the rain jackets. very few people out here riding on their bikes. on the beaches, even fewer people, but those who are dedicated getting the morning walk or the jog, they have been out there this morning keeping up with tradition. now a lot of the businesses here along the jersey shore, they depend on good weather. they're hoping for better weather throughout the summer season. they're hoping this is one small part, a drop in the bucket, if you will, in terms of the entire summer season and especially the start of the summer season. now coming up tomorrow we're going to continue our week long shore tour. we're going to be right back here in sea isle city talking about a

confirmed that the plane crashed in the mediterranean sea and there's a search underway near the greek isle. him the plane took off from paris and heading to cairo. it was flying at 37,000 feet at 2:45 a.m. when it dropped off the radar after interesting the egyptian aerospace. you can see the family members arriving at charles de gaulle airport. air traffic controllers spoke to the pilot who didn't mention any problems. there was no distress call from the pilot. there's conflicting information whether there was an automatic system emergency beacon that was picked up from the plane, the airline said there was, egyptian military said there was not. the plane had 56 passengers and ten cabin crew members including two babies and young child on the manifest. egypt air will release the passengers nationalities. 30 egyptian, and one french there's a lot of marine traffic in the area and greek and egyptian forces are involved in the search. the focus is trying to find the debris and see there were any passengers and recover the data recorders to figure out what happened to the flight. live from th

isl: so, chris, what he talking about here is a proposal that would take r&d and separate that from manufacturingnd programs. you report on this all the time. is that a problem? is there a risk with that concept? chris: separating r&d out from program acquisition is probably a pretty risky opposition for all of the reasons the secretary said, and frankly, even more. these programs spend a huge amount of money on r&d. aircraftle, the first carrier, the prices being developed. it is a major issue for senator john mccain and the senate armed services community -- committee. is roughly --f 60%. most of that money is the r&d, the design level. they like to call this nonrecurring costs it takes to put that program into development. the joint strike fighter program, the majority of money is in r&d and not in acquisition. splitting these things out just begins to open a whole host of questions and potential issues. jill: yeah. chris: congress of rarely lays sometimes it is a concept. sometimes they are looking for something political. he had tos hear what say about costs. i think he mentions that a bit.
