it's not my book it's your book. my mother was diagnosed with dementia and they wrote the book very aware that all these memories that we shared, the memories of course not only going to the library, but our whole lifetime of memories shared with the disappearing with her and a lot of what drove me was feeling that a book can preserve a memory and a soft, a piece of information. it can live beyond us and that is why writing a story traveling with my mother i was preserving those memories even as she was leaving with them. they keep track of lots of information so when i dove into writing this book this is the fantasy of every writer is that at some point along the way someone will say to me now that i think about it, there are some boxes and that is where your heart starts pounding and you say yes. where. so in this case i was trying to dig into the history that is a fascinating history as is the history of most. i think they had a particularly interesting one by virtue of the fact that it's in california which is a
