. >>> more heavy rain is on the way for an already soaked philippines, meteorologist ivan cabrera followingwe have a system that's going to enhance the monsoon, we have this time of year, the southwest of monsoon which brings the china sea the southwesterly wind flow. in fact, the heaviest rainfall occurs during the next few months here. but when we get a tropical storm to the north and east. that monsoon flow gets enhanced, supercharged, and what we get is a whole lot of rainfall. change it's the way will be for the next couple of days. as we get into the peak season, the typhoon season, other than known as hurricane season in the atlantic. otherwise it's been quiet. this is the feature we're watching for development. this one doesn't look as promising as far as an intense tropical cyclone here, but what it will do, because of its position as i just showed you is enhance that monsoon across portions of the philippines. we do have another feet that has the potential to become stronger. that's well to the east. plenty of time, that is going to be fold for next week. we'll keep you posted on

ivan cabrera is following that for us because the plane did ask for a different route, ivan, because of the weather. but that's all we know. >> and what we also know is that that happens every day on thousands of flights, 365 days a year. that is such a routine thing from the cockpit to air traffic to basically go around a thunderstorm and the reason for that is the pilots aren't afraid that the wings are going to come off or the plane is going to lose structural integrity. they are engineered to withstand forces. what they want to do is prevent literally just your comfort from being interrupted. they don't want to you have a bumpy ride and go around the thunderstorms. there's the plane and there are the actual thunderstorms that it was trying to divert. the series of events that happened after that diversion, i think, are going to be what's key but they were flying over the storm. now, this is not a turboprop flying under the bands of a typhoon like we had in tie wang, that was obvious that was going to be an issue. specifically the westerly taking a primary role. this is just a typ

our meteorologist ivan cabrera has that for us. >> we have the southwest monsoon.e moisture pulled in from the south china sea on a southwesterly wind flow. the heaviest rain flow this time of year. what happens is between june and november, sometimes we'll get a surge in the monsoon. that can happen when a tropical cyclone positions it self to the northeast of the philippines because of its counterclockwise flow on the southwestern flank. it pulls in additional moisture from the south china sea. that strengthens the rains. could be quite heavy at times and more widespread, as well. that's likely going to happen over the next couple of days. with this feature that we've been monitoring, that will likely become our next tropical depression, perhaps even get a name. it's not going to head into the philippines. it doesn't need to. when it positions itself to the north and east, sometimes it can be worse than a direct hit because if it's a tropical storm and keeps going, then the rain stops. look at this here. this computer model forecast, we're getting very excited ab

ivan cabrera joins us now. hello. >> good to see both of you here. we are now in the peak of the season. the western pacific season peaks a little bit earlier than the atlantic season here. we are now at the height of what we look at for activity as far as typhoons here. and i think in the coming week, we are going to have the potential for a couple of systems. i think one is already in the stages of development here. that would be this blob of weather east of the philippines here. computer model forecasts indicating some development in the next 48 hours here. and then further east this one actually has more potential as far as the intensity heading into next week. we'll file that one away. this is the one we're going to pay attention to because it's going to do a couple of things. one if it forms, we're going to pay attention to it as far as the track. but also notice some of the bands here, well that's not part of the system. what happens here when these tropical cyclones move to the north and east of the philippines they enhance the southwest mons
