some of the misconceptions people have about ivanka?> she's the daughter of an incredibly wealthy person who doesn't have to do very much. my impression, she's absolutely from a rich family, but she very much recognizes her own privilege. she has worked extremely hard in that organization. as well as talking to her for an hour at trump tower, i also spoke with people who add worked alongside her. the impression i got was she was somebody who unlike her father was extremely temporate and extremely neutral. extremely tough. she was extremely focused on what what she wants to do and wants to sell. if you go on her social media, that is an extension of herself. these are lovely images. they're very much a variance from the toxicity that many people associate with her father. the interesting thing for ivanka is really facing down people's objections. you may have seen an article this week which raised this. will she clarify and state what she believes? and does she believe the same things as her dad? i think at some point maybe she will come

i'm told specifically ivanka was leading the charge to get him removed. she was unhappy even before lewandowski was accused of assaulting a reporter. after that, they were pushing hard but the thing is donald trump was winning the primaries and the candidate saw no reason to change things midstream. it's been a bad couple weeks in the campaign, sliding in the polls and outspent on tv and facing potential revolt within the republican party, a convention coup and time to change it and put somebody like paul manafort in charge who is better able to change donald trump's messaging and more strategy and depth to his campaign he had been lacking so far. >> katy tur, great interview and reporting as always. i want to turn to kasie hunt at a conference where vice president joe biden just comm t commented on donald trump without mentioning him by name, important to point out. what were your takeaways this afternoon and any word yet from the clinton campaign on the big shake-up within the trump campaign? >> reporter: hi, christie. i have to keep my voice down again

i mean, you heard there in the interview he said that he got along with people like ivanka, got along with her husband jared. these were two people clearly instrumental in his removal. people like paul manafort, campaign chairman and worked well with and then clearly did not work so well with some of these people who ended up being instrumental in his removal. also, makes me wonder, you know, saying that he worked well with the campaign, clearly, being the good soldier here. this is a man loyal to donald trump, donald trump has been loyal to him. this is someone who signed on to the campaign very early on. and you remember when he went through the controversy involving that breitbart reporter, donald trump stood by him and pressure at that point to have him removed even then. donald trump saying i just don't get rid of people. so he stood by him at that point. very different styles is what we see going forward. we are hearing that paul manafort is the one, you know, directing that campaign going forward. his style is one of keeping donald trump disciplined. the word is that corey lewa

ivanka trump gave between $5,000 and $10,000. donald trump also gave to hillary clinton's senate campaign and he gave to her presidential campaign as well. that is well documented. he's called it blood money. said he's a businessman who is just trying to protect his business and that's the smart thing to do. blood money for the clinton foundation because he had no idea where that money was going. he also talked about bill clinton being responsible for losing jobs on nafta. it is estimated by ralph nader' group that about a million jobs have been lost on nafta. he also talked about trade and deficits. it's important to note, though, that the last time this country had a surplus was during bill clinton's era. since president bush took over, this country has recorded deficits every year, largely due to the various invasions in iraq and afghanistan. he talked about making this country bigger and stronger, hitting jobs, jobs, jobs. on the campaign trail, certainly in west virginia and pittsburgh, he's talked about coal miners, brickin
