. >>> patricia hit the mexican coast with 165-mile-an-hour winds, and joe fryers is with us in ixtapa, mexico, and from your vantage point, how badly hit was mexico from the storm? >> well sh, alex, a lot of peop are feeling a sigh of relief here, because the officials in mexico are saying that according to the early reports, they are not seeing the reports of the major catastrophic damage in at least some of the well populated areas, and some of the damage, and certainly some damage, but it is landslides blocking the roads and trees down and billboards knocked down and flooding in the streets. so there have been some damage reports, but already some of the trees have been clear prd the roads and the the mudslides have been cleared and a lot of the officials are saying that they feel lucky. part of the reason is that it appears that the strongest part of the storm, the part that was going 165 miles an hour when it hit land hit the sparsely populated a areas along the coast. it is unclear how much damage in those area, and some of those parts are hard to reach, and officials are going

in ixtapa mexico i'm joe fryer for thankfully patricia's impact doesn't seem as bad as it could've been... but the storm's remnants are prolonging downpours and flooding conditions in the southwestern u-s... heavy rainfall continues to fall in parts of texas... in san antonio -- rescue crews are searching for a man who was swept away in the flood waters while walking his dog.... multiple dams have been opened to help the overflowing rivers -- but officials say this may also lead to standing water in low-lying roadways... evacuations have been issued throughout parts of the state... take a look at this: the floodwaters even capsized a train in texas yesterday... you can see the intense video here... this freight train was overturned yesterday morning... a rescue team was able to pull two crew members from the partially submerged train... and amazingly -- no one was injured... the train was carrying cement... when it ran into high water and fell there's also some major flooding happening in europe... torrential rain has overtaken a small town on one of the canary islands. some cars were s

joe fryer is live in ixtapa, mexico. joe, what you got?ood morning, you know, consider this. when this thing started off in a 24 hour period, it went from 85 miles an hour to 200 miles an hour in a 24 hour period. now in just about the same period of time, the storm has dissipated now 50 miles per hour, still though mexican officials are warning people not to let down their guard, to be careful because this can be dangerous. these are still fairly strong winds. rains can cause flooding and mudslides, so they want people to be cautious. but after the main part of this storm hit landfall early friday night, it was 165 miles an hour. but it seems the strongest hit some sparsely populated area which was is good news. mexico's president saying that the first reports seem to indicate there is not a lot of damage or as much damage as one would have expected with the storm of this magnitude. still, once it gets light out as it's starting to now, crews need to go out and assess the damage especially in some low lying isolateded areas. a lot of fish
