reporting live in san francisco, j.r. stone, abc seven news. j.r, thank you. >> also in san francisco today, police were in a heated standoff with a man allegedly armed with knives at a chase bank on masonic avenue. and fulton. police say the man went in and started verbally antagonizing the bank employees and escalated the whole thing by pulling out knives. he was not cooperative with officers when they arrived. one officer was hurt. san francisco police called on the hostage crisis negotiating team. there were flashbangs and pepper spray deployed. over 3.5 hours later, the suspect was screaming while taken into an ambulance and to a nearby hospital. >> happening now, the white house is showing support for israel. it is lit up in blue and white lights, which are the colors of the israeli flag. >> president biden says he will address the situation in israel and palestine tomorrow in an afternoon speech. that's according to a white house official. >> the president says at least 11 americans are among the dead in the fighting, at least 100 people

i'm j.r. stone. police arrived to a chaotic scene there and now neighbors are giving us a much better idea of what might have happened next door. officers were called out to the party on shannon way. they say gunfire erupted just before just after. that is 11 p.m. saturday night. abc seven news reporter ryan curry is hearg from those nearby about just how much this is shaking the neighborhood. ed? >> there is a common theme in this oakland neighborhood. what's it like living on the street? quiet >> it's very quiet. street >> the sidewalks are nicely paved. some homes even have basketball hoops for kids to play. it's a nice suburban street. that all changed late saturday night. there's multiple subjects with gunshot wounds, one shot in the leg and another thinks that they are dying. >> they are telling someone to stay awake. >> two of them ended up on the front lawn and a girl and a boy both shot this woman and her family saw it all. >> you could hear another young man just like screaming, wailing . a

i'm j.r. stone. we are getting new information within the past hour about what happened here. abc7 news just spoke to the pastor of saints, peter and paul church in san francisco right next to washington square park in north beach. he tells us an unknown man was spotted before service and took communion but then allegedly assaulted one of the parishioners after being chased out of the church. san francisco police say they saw the suspect driving away a pursuit. sfpd tells us the man was throwing what they said were, quote, suspicious devices out of his car as they chased him through san francisco. chp then took over in the chase following him across the bay bridge and ultimately arresting him in martinez. chp says he wasn't throwing anything outside during their portion of the chase, but they say they did find unknown items in his car when they caught up to him. no one was seriously hurt and anyone with info is asked to call san francisco police danger averted in benicia earlier today. strong winds from an earlier red flag warning helped to spread this small ten acre fire on o
