"we're pursuing constitutional rights that were violated." a lawsuit filed wednesday alleges des moines senior police officer vanessa miller was negligent when she shot and killed ryan bolinger after a bizarre low-speed chase in june. jack: we have new details on two peole killed in a jack: it happened sunday evening near the intersection of hubble avenue and east 37th. two vehicles were involved -- one was heading west, the other was turning into a quick trip when they were hit. police now say the two killed in the crash are 60 year old richard hummel and his passenger -- 59 year old randall sonnenburg. the driver of the other vehicle survived the crash. it's still no clear how it happened, and whether charges will be filed. stephanie: we continue to follow the latest overseas -- and attacks in paris that killed over one hundred people. on friday night -- three teams of terrorists staged coordinated attacks at six locations. at least 352 people were wounded -- seven terrorists were killed. the attacks spurred raids and arrests this morning -- and even air strikes in syria. this morning -- we spoke to an iowa state student who is studying abroad -- and was in paris at the time of the attacks. stephanie emily wright is staying in a town about 40 minutes outside of paris. but on firday night, she says she was in the socc

jack: hillary clinton is still holding strong in iowa. jack/otsl: she remains the number one choice for iowa democratic caucus goers. the latest quinnipiac poll puts clinton at 51 percent, with bernie sanders in second with 42 percent support. the poll results also reveal iowa democrats' position on allowing syrian refugees into iowa. and it's much different compared to what republicans say. here to break down those results is local 5's lucas casey. "that's right. in today's release from quinnipiac we see that 80 percent of the iowa democrats who were polled support accepting syrian refugees in iowa. in the political polling world, that's a pretty high rate of concensus, no matter what issue we're talking about. on the republican side - we saw an equal level of concensus, but on the opposite side of the issue. 82 percent of iowa republicans said they oppose accepting syrian refugees into the state. so... definitely one of the more politically divisive issues for iowans right now. in the digital media center, lucas casey, local 5 news, we

jack: police are keeping a close eye on 47 year old barney fraaken. he's the suspect from sunday night's double homicide in des moines. des moines police say fraaken shot and killed his wife amy and 16 year old daughter amber in their home on hull avenue following a domestic dispute. fraaken is expected to survive his self- inflicted wounds. when he's released, police say he'll likely face charges. but today, we're learning more about the mother and daughter who were killed. friends and former teachers are remembering amber as a student and as a friend. local 5's claire powell spoke to her former teacher and is here with more, claire? claire: jack and stephanie, josh osbourne was amber's teacher and behavior coach for three years at hoyt middle school. and even though amber had moved on to high school, she only lived four blocks away from the school, so she stopped in all the time to talk to her teachers. the last time, just 3 weeks ago, just to catch up. he described amber as writer, a tomboy, lover of superheroes and skateboards... and someone who l

jack: new at 5 tonight. an update on the merle hay mall animals that were moved out nearly one year ago. jack: last december, the c-e-o of pella wildlife was evicted from his exhibit at the mall. several state agencies helped to move 21 species out of their exhibits. most of the animals were relocated to a colorado wildlife sanctuary. the blank park zoo and a-r-l also helped care for some of the smaller animals. jack: 18 large animals including several foxes, grey wolves, and three black bears spent the past 11 months at the colorado wildlife animal sanctuary. the facility just released their winter newsletter and featured some of the animals they took in from merle hay mall. they say all of the animals had to go through rehabilitation to improve their physical, psychological, and social health. but they're now enjoying their newfound freedom with several acres to roam around. stephanie/ram it's a big day for high school football across iowa. the 3a championships are underway at the uni-dome, but the weather
