dorsey onlo and jack the vanity fair list. new book about the pair talk about a dysfunctional company over the last couple of years, but things have changed. nick joins us. the coo is out. the new cfo is in. it seems like dick costolo has more control than he did when you wrote the book. >> i feel like we are talking tv show.eality >> it was kind of like a tele-novella. >> it was a murder mystery, in many respects. >> nobody got killed. >> well, we do not know. >> that is true. exit is interesting, when i wrote the book, there was so much drama in the story there were things that i left out. >> like what? >> well, at the end of the book, jack dorsey returns triumphantly, and all of the early founders are forced out to leave, but after the book ends, there is another set of drama where other people are fired, and there is a battle between jack, dick costolo, and all these things are taking place. >> is that still happening? now, after i wrote the book, i thought the company would relax and have everything sorted out. it did not

. >> we just bob iger and jack dorsey together on stage, representing two different generations and technology. howdy you think it is playing out -- how do you think it is playing out in terms of the power set? >> the coming together of industries, we have seen this .heme you have a really wonderful pairing of young and new, and let's not forget, the michael bloombergs were the young renegades 20 years ago. the fact thatout you've got technology and popular culture coming together. this is hugely impactful on a large scale. this point is a huge business. they created $49 billion in free .ash flow in the last year carl icahn is a tiny shareholder, but it reflects where this intersection of technology and culture has created a massive, cash flow generating company. it's not about hype or electric cars or cameras on a stick. thatabout a large company generates cash and has responsibilities as a result. >> it's great to have you on the show, and we are enjoying our time here at the summit. coming up, a lot more on "bloomberg west." you'll hear our conversation with bob geithner -- with bob iger. p

. >> jack dorsey has been on your board, cheryl, been there for a long time. what do people bring to disney? >> steve jobs before that actually. so we had some mighty disruptors on our board. first of all, i think boards in order to be effective need to have a diversity of opinion, diversity of background and voices. i think it's really important both as the ceo but for shareholders as well. they bring a perspective that oftentimes companies need to thrive. so i love the fact that jack is on our board, a disruptor, and cheryl, and of course steve. they're forward hinking. there's something about the technology business that's always looking ahead, never standing still. that's really important. and they just bring an energy and insight and advice on where the world might be going because that's what they're thinking about and that's very valuable. >> what's the most exciting thing for you right now inside disney? >> i'm fortunate that i have a lot of thing that is excite me within the company. the businesses we have are fun and exciting to run. he two things i'
