joining me is city councilman jack henderson. good morning. can you tell us the latest there in terms of what the shootings were taking place? these were all in a predominantly black neighborhood, correct? >> correct. >> the shooter is a white male from what we understand. is this being looked at as a late crime? >> well, the tul sa branch of the naacp is what they're calling it. i am simply because it was african-american community and white shooter and only people that had been shot thus far is afro americans, so as a past president of the naacp for several years, i wouldn't know nothing else to call it other than that. >> from what we understand this suspect would ask somebody for directions and then open fire. is that what those who survived this are saying. >> one of the incidents, for sure, statement was made that this person drove up to them and in a white truck and asked them for information, and directions and they proceeded to tell him they didn't really know and maybe down the street a little farther and as they were walking away, o

on the line is jack henderson, councilman from tulsa.can you tell us exactly what is happening in tulsa, what do you know? >> all i know is there has been three people killed, others have been shot, in four different incidents, like you said. it appears at this time that we have a person, a white individual that has started going around and taking shots at black people. >> is this person still on the run as far as you know? >> absolutely. they have not captured him at this point. i have talked to the mayor as well as the chief of police, and they have assured me that they have officers, many, many officers working on this 24 hours, seven days, they will do it as long as it takes until they bring this person to justice. >> what can you tell us about the victims? we understand as you said they are all african american, did they know each other? >> no, the ages range from i think in the 50s to younger people which i think 17, 18, i don't know of anyone that was injured that is younger than that. but i do know that allegedly these people are

my name is jack henderson. i'm the district one city counselor. all of these happened in my district. my main concern is for the victims and for the citizens that are worried that this person has not been apprehended yet. the best thing that i can tell the citizens of district one and the citizens of tulsa is, and the mayor has said it, the chief has said it, that we need to communicate with the police department. if you know anything, think you know something, thing you saw something, you might have heard something, this is the time for you to come forward. i know that there's some people in district one that don't think that they need to be talking to the police department. but this is a matter of urgency for this community and this city. we need to put aside whatever you think about your inaboility to talk to the police department. we're working together, from day one, i called the mayor. i asked him what was going on. he told me, i asked him to talk to the chief and have the chief call me. so i could try to ease some of the minds of some of th

earlier i talked to jack henderson who said the shooter would drive up and ask for directions and start firing when he drove away and he also told us what is being said to residents. >> what is your advice to community members? >> that is my whole meeting last night what we were trying to do is to assure the citizens that we don't need anybody to go and take matters in their own hands. we want to give the police department an opportunity and to support them in trying to apprehend this person. we need to incorporate with the police, i know there is pockets of people that have not traditionally done that, but this is the crisis situation, a lot of people are afraid for their lives, afraid for their children, afraid for their loved ones, and if you can't walk outside or walk down the street of the city that you live in, then that's definitely a problem. so we need to see this person apprehended expeditiously and we need to help all we can to try to make that happen. >> councilman henderson also said this may be a hate crime. the suspect is white, the victims are all black. the area where t
