jack ablin. jack, let me begin with you. has the market action been overblown or a much-needed shaking of the trees as they say? >> i think it is part of the readjustment process, ashley. the fact is, whether president trump likes it or not interest rates are too low. they're too low in the shortened. if you look at for example, the taylor rule which looks at the economic environment and says overnight rates should be 5%, not 2.25. if you look at the intermediate part of the curve, the 10-year historically, the 10-year tracks nominal gdp which would be around conservatively 4 1/2%, not 3.1. so that gets back to fair value i would say, it is fair game in the equity market again but we've gotten accustomed to 10 years of interest rates below fair value and they do need to readjust. ashley: i was saying to ed before we went into the broadcast, almost like a two-year-old been told you can't have anymore candy, they have a epic tantrum. my two-year-old had a tantrum in grocery store. he did cartwheels on the ground he was so upset. you start taking it away, to jack's point, probably, you know, with good reason. yet this is reaction we get. is it overblown? >> i think market reaction is overblown at this point. when the market is up 35% since the president is elected, now 30%, stocks like amazon up 60% since the beginning of the year. you have to expect investors to get skiddish, when they get skiddish they tend to overreact. algorithmic trading. there was quite a correction in the rest of the world yesterday. what you would expect, what we've seen twice the stock market dropped 10% and gradually climbed its way back. i'm not sure it climbs all the way back. i'm not sure this is harbinger of things to come. we should expect tightening in monetary policy which was excessively loose during the obama administration. that is a risky undertaking. ashley: you're absolutely right. then donald trump was very critical of the loose policy of the fed. now he is president, things have changed. christina, let me bring you in on that. is there any chatter on the

jack murtha and tip o'neill is jack murthaou know, needs to be on these fact-finding trips around the world wherever there are appropriations for military movements. for instance, one of the very first ones in 1978, he finds himself back in vietnam, back in southeast asia, and he is meeting with various political figures as well as with military figures, and one of the things he does is he records on tape in a diary, his actions throughout the day. one of the things we have here in the collection are these wonderful transcripts of his tapes, also with his notations on them. one of the things it says here, the state department was stating that there were two or 3000 russians in vietnam today. they give approximately $500 million per year in aid. they were also talking about the claims of the vietnamese not being friendly to the russians and especially, being more friendly to the chinese. so basically a fact-finding trip, is what is going on here. trying to figure out who are the players on the ground in vietnam, still? wasicularly later on, he also trying to go to beirut and egypt on a fact-finding mission in the 1980's. this particular trip, one of the things produced is this wonderful album of photographs. he visits a palace of resident , but also, onet of the things that is very critical in this is a clipping which basically says, "jackurtha's trip will influence the direction of the appropriation's up committee talks." one of the things that congressman murtha sort of distinguished himself by the early part of the 21st century was his expertise in military intelligence, military service, and the service on the appropriations committee. so he becomes a very strong voice for any military action happening by the united states. 9/11 happens, so we go to war. , againstrly, with tourism in afghanistan. but shortly after that we find ourselves getting the resolution to go to war in iraq. theressman murtha supports initial resolution to go to iraq, like many of his colleagues in congress. but within a few years, he begins to be critical of that november 2005, he a resolution to actually pull our troops out of iraq. >> the united states" mission troops have done all they can in iraq. it is time. .or a change in direction our military is suffering. the future of our country is at risk. we cannot continue on the present force.
