you mentioned 1960 between jack kennedy and richard nixon where kennedy's charisma negated nixon supposedthe other was the 76 debate between carter and ford where ford claimed the soviet union was not dominating eastern europe at the time. that was an election ford might have won that stalled his campaign a bit. most debates don't think move the needle. when they do i think it's because they reverse the narrative, as i mentioned with kennedy and nixon, as the other gentlemen noted. there's already been the narrative of this joe biden too old and people have already taken that into account whether that matters to them or not. this may reinforce that view but this is the earliest debate we've ever had in american presidential politics, it's only june and the election is in november and there are plenty of opportunities for joe biden to bounceback as he seemed to do today at the north carolina rally. his partisans certainly hope he performs better at the next debate, as ronald reagan did after he seemed old and his first debate. and this is the first time we saw two presidents debating each
