they were hit just after 7:30 last night walking from their waterfront hotel in jack london square to yoshi's to play a show that started at 8 p.m. they had waited for one train to pass and then they were crossing the tracks on foot when a second train in the opposite direction hit them. they were thrown several feet. the manager dialed 911 said the men were unconscious and had broken bones. people at yoshi's waiting for the show were obviously stunned at the news. >> we noticed flashing from the police cars and saw the train stopped on the tracks. but we didn't hear anything. we assumed there must have been an accident. we weren't sure. we did hear the ambulance. >> reporter: and they were told that the show was canceled due to an emergency outside. they later found out exactly what happened. we want to show you some video we found on the web of the "tower of power" one of their past performances. the band consists of about a dozen musicians, mostly horns. and it formed here in oakland in 1968. it has been popular in the r & b world ever since. again, we are here at highland hospital
