i am jack markell, chair of the national governors' association. i am joined by governor fallin. through the nga we identified the priority of the state can find common ground on the issues that unite us. the bipartisan nature of the nga allows us to have very candid conversations with our colleagues from across the country. that is what we will be doing this weekend. while each governor has his or her own agendas, we want to remain sustainable. federal spending cut means states will receive less. it can undermine our budget and slow the economic growth in our states. as it stands, state economies are slowly recovering and we are returning to the revenues we collected bac in 2008. we believed in flexible federalism. as we continue to work with congress and the administration, governors are committed to a collaboration to maintain and promote a balanced system. we have as congress and the initiation to keep four points in mind. this should produce savings for the federal and state. it cannot be accomplished by shifting costs from the federal government to the states or by imposing

jack markell, a democrat from delaware, welcomed to the white house along with other governors over thewhite house putting a list out of how states will be affected by spending cuts. what they say will happen in delaware. 2,000 fewer students will be served in schools. about 2,000 civilian department of defense employees furloughed. $201,000 less for senior seniors. 380 children will receive vaccines, fewer. and 1,800 fewer hiv tests and 100 fewer domestic violence victims serve. >> we feel the economy is starting to come back, and right at the time where we would like to see it accelerate, this could really put a slam on the brakes, that's the biggest issue for us. >> gdp, the biggest issue. some say it won't be affected much. but some republicans say that president obama is painting a doomsday scenario, saying it will be worse than it actually is. this is tom coburn speaking on fox news sunday. >> senator coburn, is the president exaggerating the impact of these cuts? >> absolutely. and you see that the typical setup of the strawman. what sequestration is, it's a terrible way to cut s
