joining me is former cia special agent jack rice. if you're one of the prosecutors looking at this case, how do those trips to pakistan, jack, fit into the overall picture of zazi as a man who was plotting a major attack against americans? >> as a former prosecutor myself so i have to think how i would argue this to a jury. what you have to show is the transformation from where early on he would say i love america, to the statements that he makes ongoing month after month, year after year to establish how he shifted in his own mind, then what you do is you overlay all of the evidence that you have in terms of the experiences that he acquired in pakistan, ability to learn bomb making, willingness to buy chemicals to take the further actions as part of this conspiracy. you tie them together, you put those in front of a jury to prove it wasn't just hypothetical. he wasn't going to change his hair color. he was going to create bombs and he did it because he hated america. that's how you loop this together. >> and yet his family members de
