jackie: i'm jackie from new york.ay, the reverberation of tariffs that initially were going to be 25%, and china by 10% and may be delayed by a month is what the mexican president said. the lows down .08% and nowhere like we had with deepseek anxiety but tariff anxiety is clear. let's think of the other angles we're watching. president trump's tariffs, in fact there's a plan to eliminate a tariff exemption for over $800 and allowing them to ship cleanly without tariffs and given them an advantage over amazon, and bouncing off the lows with the chinese companies as well after that mexican headline. but this is all surrounding how they're able to bypass costs at the moment and that will come to an end. were yeah, clear as mud right now exactly how it will play out. the key question is trump imposed this 10% tariff on goods from china and eliminating this loophole. spencer: the big question now is does that apply just to the new 10% or the old tariffs as well? we're still kind of getting clarity minute by minute on that.

jackie: and i am instance for -- san francisco. caroline: shares are down after a conservative forecast. we get the take on the strength of smartphone and ai demand. roblox shares slumped after users and engagement slide. and the ceo of vanguard discusses the reckoner -- the record fee cuts for dozens of mutual funds. first we look at the broader markets and we are wobbling around gains and losses. we are up about .10%. there are big moves. nvidia on points upside and on the downside we are anxious about tesla. we move on to see what the individual moves are. qualcomm up by 4.8% and one of the biggest rags to the draft -- to the downside. they have beaten earnings and forecast that outlook for the smartphones outlook is where it has investor anxiety. that smartphone anxiety feeds into a little bit into arm holdings, a key chip designer. they beat the street on earnings and earnings-per-share. you look at revenue dialing up almost 20% but it is a conservative forecast and what this means not only for smartphones but ai demand as wel

jackie: you are right. ton of credit for that revenue beat, doubling their other unit. i am curious if you can speak to what they said about that estimate miss on the data center unit, and what does it say about amd's standing in the ai ecosystem broadly? joanne: the problem they had with their report is their entry into the ai side of data centers is something that is a little bit slower to rollout than people were hoping, and expectations were high heading into the corridor, so this new chip that is expected to really push amd into this business more securely, and they have only just started rolling out this whole line of chips, that new chip, the 350 is not expected to ramp in the second half of this year. consequently, their guidance was softer than expected for the data center. that is not take anything away from the core data center business, which continues to grow, but we are in a seasonally weekly quarter for pc's and with a less of a ramp on the new chips scum of gross margin takes a bit of a hip.
