news 4's jackie benson is live to walk us through the changes that are coming. jackie? >> reporter: well, doreen, there is almost no area of the county that has not been touched by gang activity and the top prosecutors words on it are chilling. >> it's a complete aberration. we really didn't have much gang violence that rose to this level for about 15 years. in the last two years we've had 20 homicides. >> reporter: the shocking abduction and murder of 15-year-old gaithersburg resident last february highlighted what officials say is a growing gang problem in montgomery county. states attorney john mccarthy says a new memorandum of agreement will help law enforcement root out gang activity in schools. he tells news 4 he also plans to bring organized crime prosecutions against gang members. >> we are going to begin to target the leadership. we are going to do grand jury investigations. we are going to do what we think gangs, there are multiple gangs we are looking at. >> reporter: also in the works, a special police unit dedicated to stopping gang activity. live in chevy
