jackie robinson, he -- broke the color line. right? you heard that? so, i want you to think about the impact of that narrative. jackie robinson broke the color line. he did it. he was exceptional. he was an exception to his group. subtext, his group is inferior. finally, one of them had what it took to break through, and to play with us. so, he is now a very special individual who is an exception to his group. now-- oh, by the weighers other thing that conveys, and racism ended in sports when he broke the color line. okay. imagine we told the story like this. jackie robinson, the first blackman that whites allowed to play major league baseball. because that is the story. it wasn't up to him. no matter how exceptional he was, and he was exceptional, i still doubt he was the first and most exceptional black ball player, but regardless, if he walked out on that field before we said he could, the police would have removed him. so, i want to tell the story the second way not because i want to say how bad white people are because, one, it's true, and, two,

jackie robinson cracked the call line only after landis his death in 1944. some blaming the delay on the judge. the man of that time, many records are lost or gone. the such however, tells me at the lack of any other reason confirmed, that the hall of fame committees refusal to admit franklin roosevelt stemmed from bias against his liberal policies and persona. it was telling. he was as conservative as landis but appalled by the shameful treatment of fdr. whose death stunned the game which knew how he had saved it. the committee snob shows by politics left or right has no place in baseball most sacred site. also ignores the fact that without roosevelt, baseball could not have survived the war. on the 32nd president mark, the 16 million uniformed americans that served in world war ii. who can doubt that if asked, they would've overwhelmingly cried yes to their commander-in-chief admission to cooperstown. to honor them, to conduct fdr now would be a great and good thing to the hall of veterans committee to do. today, more than 300 plaques honor great players,
