in oakland, jackie ward, kpix 5. commute. >>> well, it's friday. theoretically it's "friday light" and we'll see if that's -- you have a little wrinkle out there now? >> yes, we are tracking a couple of incidents including a car fire and so we are going to begin in the south bay. this is definitely slowing on t northbound 101 with two lanes blocked and backup is stretching beyond montague expressway. we are definitely seeing delays. drive times in the red, 42 minutes from hellyer to san antonio. do give yourself some extra time. those two lanes could be blocked for another half-hour. we'll keep an eye on it it. we are still seeing some slow youngs. caltrans was supposed to wrap up roadwork by 6:00 in the northbound direction but it looks like we are still tracking one lane closed. so expect delays. the backup is beyond jack london road and clearing to milpitas at this point. so that's about 27 minutes. this is not looking good. we have 880 and it is lit up in the southbound direction just south of hesperian. we had a

jackie ward has details on the fires in california for us this morning. >> there are signs of progress this morning. start with the status of the ferguson fire, more than ,000 s in the sierra- nevada mountains. it's 86% contained at this point and full containment is expected by tomorrow. this is good news because yosemite national park is expected to reopen this morning after being closed since july 25th. pockets of flames are still burning near a steep canyon area by elephant rock but sprinklers have been put down there. officials say the threat of spot fires outside the established line will diminish, helping the air quality continue to get better. >> u n see the air quality is better. everybody breathes better when the smoke gets out of the air, the firefighters and the 00fire fire and it's only a third as many that were on the scene during its peak. one firefighter died while fighting the mendocino complex fires on monday. that fire is 68% contained and continues to rage over 350,000 acres of land. the firefighter has not been identified but we know that he was from utah and died
