our jackie ward is live there now with what we know so far. jackie. >> reporter: michelle, to give you a little perspective from the last time i talked to you, we have moved down a little bit on van ness down the hill more close to the water i should say. that's because the scene was just opened up to the public about a half-hour ago after two cars were cleared from the scene. we have video that was taken just moments ago to show you what we saw. you can see that there was a black sedan as well as a u.s. park police patrol car removed from the end of van ness by the municipal pier. once that happened, police cleared the area and normal activity has since resumed. not many details were revealed overnight but we can confirm that one person was shot and is at zuckerberg general hospital in critical condition this morning recovering from life-threatening injuries. another person was detained. the shooting happened last night around 9:30. sfpd says a u.s. park police officer was somehow involved and a gun from the suspect was recovered at the scene.
