it's the marijuana migration and denver7 reporter jaclyn allen explored the so-called green rush. this all came o light after the investigation into the planned parenthood shooting? >> reporter: right. the admitted shooter had moved out to colorado for marijuana and to be left alone, but when park county detectives had to searrh his rv, they looked around and noticed rvs everywhere and tough sheds and tents, people living off the grid with no water, sewer or power. to be clear, there have always been people living like this in park county drawn by cheap land and little regulation, but first responderr tell me the numbers have grown exponentially in the last 18 -`at last count the fire chief estimated 287 nonconforming homes in just one fire district. -`the real concern is that in this extremely harsh but beautiful climate, we're talking temperatures of negative 51 degrees, these people living in campers could be one storm or one freezing cold day from a crisis. >> you can see the chimney from here. there. >> reporter: so what's the danger? >> they'll die of carbon monoxide poisoni
