there will be a statement later on from jacob rees—mogg.ge by increasing that national insurance. is there any prospect of it not getting through? i think it well. the conservatives have our majority of about 80. there would have to be a large rebellion indeed for this not to happen. the tax rates will have to come as part of a budget, so if you were to vote on a budget that is effectively a vote of no confidence in the government. borisjohnson will be very confident of getting this through. he will need to alleviate some of the damage in his arguments today. it'll be interesting to see how itjustifies breaking that manifesto promised today. we can expect them to say the pandemic is got an awful lot of money and the circumstances have changed since i made that promise back in the general election. also be interesting to see how the labour party response to it, too. it is an opportunity for sir keir starmer to go on the attack, although labour itself has not yet come forward with itself has not yet come forward with its own plans to deal wit
