msnbc's jacob soboroff is on the ground in ohio this morning, he's in columbus. re looking at a very specific type of voter, though, the trucker vote. what are you seeing out there? >> reporter: you know, steve, we have literally seen countless different places where they say the rubber meets the road, but woe saw where it actually meets the road yesterday. i was on a stretch of interstate 80, which of course a cross-country highway that goes from the east coast to the west coast but specifically through the swing states of pennsylvania and ohio. the folks that traverse that road on a daily basis know this state almost better than anyone else and it is one of the swingiest parts in one of the swingiest states in the union and could tip the scales for donald trump or hillary clinton. so we went to the truck world truck stop, a very fine place, to see what voters there had to say. i'm at the truck world truck stop on the i-80 corridor in hubbard, ohio, and very few roads are as important to the 2016 presidential election than this one because it runs through the swi

msnbc's jacob soboroff just visited one town and spoke to some people there who were democrats for a t are considering switching over in 2016. jacob, this has been such an elusive prize for republicans. they have been targeting pennsylvania every election since they last won in '88 but it really could be different this time. what did you find? >> you hear donald trump say over and over again i am going to win states that republicans normally don't win and he talks about pennsylvania. he talks about going to the wharft wharton school of business. this is a map of presidential election results from 1992 to 2012. as you watch as it cycles through, it gets progressively redder and redder and redder, specifically in western pennsylvania. this is where the steel industry was centered around the pittsburgh area. we went right here to this little county right there, beaver county, pennsylvania, home of a city called aliquippa. j & l steel was headquartered there at one time. they had 30,000 people living and working in that community. now it's down to 9,000. this could be ground zero for penn

still a lot of time left. >> jacob soboroff, thank you very much. very interesting question. in senior political editor mark murray. mark, good seeing you this morning. >> good morning, jose. >> let's pick up where jacob left off. why are we seeing such close numbers in some of these battleground states, ohio, pennsylvania, florida? >> the biggest reason why is we have a very close race right now. and the national polls are going to end up reflecting close battleground state polls. if you really do believe that swing states like florida, ohio and pennsylvania are swing states, that usually they'll be the average of a national horse race which includes blue states like california, red states like texas and the swing states where jacob was just in pennsylvania, smack dab in the middle. as jacob was reminding us, in 2012 barack obama was able to ending up winning pennsylvania and did it really fueling in the cities and urban suburbs. so obama cleaned up in philadelphia, in pittsburgh and then of course in the areas surrounding that. and where jacob was profiling is going to be a

jacob soboroff is in los angeles with a look at the delegate map and whether sanders can indeed find a path to denying clinton a pledged delegate victory. what have you found? >> indeed he can, but it will be a tight victory if he is able to pull it off. you can't really frankly have a conversation about whether or not bernie sanders can win without asking the question, what are super delegates. bernie sanders answer to that question today would be something i don't want you to focus all that much on. and the reason is, they make up a huge chunk, a 500-delegate portion of the 770 delegate lead that hillary clinton currently holds over bernie sanders. how is this going to play in california and across the country on june 7th? i did a little digging and this is what i found. >> you've been hearing for a while now that things aren't looking good for bernie sanders to win the democratic nomination for president. >> you think he's still got a chance? >> no, i don't. >> so what gives? why on the eve of one of the last presidential nominating contest system the race still going if it's out
