let's go to jacob soboroff, covering these events. the dcampus has been on lock-down, what are we hearing? >> reporter: just in to us, in addition to this being a potential murder-suicide, we're hearing in the nbc news los angeles bureau, that a note and a gun were found on the scene again. according to multiple law enforcement sources here in the nbc news in los angeles bureau. a little bit of context again about where ucla is and why we have seen such a robust law enforcement response here. smack in the middle of the city of los angeles. los angeles is known as the city without a center, but i think it's fair to say we have multiple centers in los angeles downtown los angeles being one of them. westwood with tens of thousands of students at ucla is another center bordered by four huge los angeles neighborhoods. at any given time tens of thousands of people may be in the general vicinity, why you see the los angeles police department taking the lead over the ucla police department. >> jacob, just to clarify what you've been reporting

msnbc jacob soboroff caught up with sanders' supporters and joins me now from santa monica. it's a beautiful day out here, kate. as we saw earlier today, hillary clinton and bernie sanders are still running full steam ahead, ahead of the california primary. polls close tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m. local time here, 11:00 in the east coast. one of the groups that could help bernie sanders stay alive even if hillary clinton clinches with the pledged delegate and super delegate total is young latino voters. everybody thinks they are in hillary clinton's camp. at least that is the presumption before this point, but it turns out that registration is way up amongst latino voters in the state, 123% up. so i spent the day with some of those young sanders' supporters to see their strategy going into tomorrow. take a look at this. what's the key, guys to winning on tuesday? >> reach out to as many voters as possible. who is this? >> hi, we're volunteers with bernie sanders campaign for president. are you guys -- >> i voted. >> you did. you voted for bernie? >> yes. >> that's great. >> a

msnbc's jacob soboroff is in the silver lake neighborhood. jacob, good morning to you.ust getting underway there? >> reporter: yeah, that's exactly right, jose. polls open here at 7:00 local time, 10:00 on the east coast. just so happens this happens to be my polling place so we came over here to check out what's going on. if i could bring you in and show you what's going on there was worry turnout would be low after the associated press and nbc news declared that hillary clinton is the presumptive democratic nominee based on the totals with the superdelegates and the pledged delegates. but you can see in the basement of st. theresa school, people have turned out to vote. the big question today is how many people will end up turning out to vote. the hillary clinton campaign is worried that people will not show up here in california because of this result, handing bernie sanders a fresh opportunity to score a big win here in california. there's over 6 million eligible voters in los angeles county, over 10 million statewide. if bernie sanders can pull off a victory here t

jacob soboroff following this from los angeles.t do we know about that part of the story right now? >> reporter: it is on the campus of ucla. so per the university's call for the campus to be placed on lockdown, that building would be affected. we're learning a little bit more about the citywide tactical alert that the los angeles police department has gone into, which is not something that happens regularly here in los angeles. they will be taking under a citywide tactical alert. they will not be taking low priority calls and they will keep officers on duty past their shifts in order to deal with the situation. what you're looking at on the left-hand side of your screen is one of the main entryways into campus at ucla and those red fire trucks are city of los angeles fire trucks and the city of laos angeles has been mobilized as the first responders on scene. i want to repeat what i told you last time we spoke which is ucla has their own police department but in a situation like this obviously they're not equipped to handle obviou
