let's go over now to jacqui jeras in the weather center, as we take a look at what's happening acrossountry and of course the concern is the weather in southern california, is it helping them fight that fire as well as what's happening throughout the rest of the country? >> it's not helping them a lot. this is a fact that the winds aren't too strong but it's not hurting them all that much today either. the temperatures are down a little bit so that's some good news. we're talking about low to mid-90s for highs as opposed to the triple digits. cooler weather will be on the way over the next two days, especially as we head into your labor day holiday. we're going to get what we call onshore winds and that marine layer is going to start to set up, that's going to bring in the higher humidity and also bring in those cooler temperatures. it is a holiday weekend and if you're think being heading to the beach and hitting the water you may want to think twice if you're in chatham, massachusetts. there have been shark sightings, five of them and one of them confirmed a great white. they haven'

. >>> let's go over to jacqui jeras at the moment.nd when we take a look at the weather, it was pretty warm towards the end of the week, which firefighters don't like. >> yeah, temperatures have been cooling down a little this weekend, richard. in fact, today we're looking at temperatures about five to ten degrees cooler than they were yesterday. tomorrow we're going to add maybe another five. so ten degrees cooler overall throughout the rest of your weekend. so that's really helping. we also have a southwesterly flow starting to push through here. so the marine layer will start to set in for tomorrow. more humidity, that pacific moisture pushes in and we can see even see a little cloudiness in this area for tomorrow. that's some great news, certainly for the fires. and the winds pretty steady. we're really not expecting them to pick up at all. okay, holiday weekend, right? labor day holiday. what are you planning on doing? are you thinking about heading to the beach at all? well, we've got a little warning for you if that's what you

. >>> let's head over to jacqui jeras in the weather center. the question might be, is it hot? is it humid? what are the conditions to help them battle this fire? >> yeah, it's definitely on the hot side, richard. temperatures well into the 90s again. that's down a little bit from the triple digits they were seeing earlier this week. humidity levels are up there, we'd like to see them a little bit higher. but they're not below critical levels. so that's great news. winds are relatively calm, a little gusty in some of the passes and down below there. but much cooler temperatures are heading that way over the weekend. it's the labor day holiday weekend, everybody wanting to go to the beach. one part of the country you might want to think twice about doing that. take a look at these pictures out of massachusetts from the chatham area. there have been a number of sightings of sharks, one of which has been confirmed to be a great white shark. here's the "jaws" music. they're doing some patrolling in boats in the waterways, watching for them. sharks have been spotted about mile away

jacqui jeras has been out and about the metro area covering the severe flooding. >> just north of the drive through the flooded streets and got stuck. the people were able to get out. nobody was injured in the situation. quite a few homes are being threatened. the water is like a river. also across the driveways cutting these people off from being able to get out. if the creek continues to rise we could see the water move into the homes. look how fast the water zf moving. a good example of how six inches of water can knock you off your feet. a lot of dangers. something else that's starting to happen. you can see a tree that's been down. the ground is so so much rated from seven contective days of rachl that the tree limbs and roof systems are being weakened. trees are starting to fall down. we'll be concerned about power outages and more downed trees in the coming days. not just people. but also animals. this is an eqestrian center. this is the worst flooding the neighborhood has seen in five years. last time the flooding was this high was during hurricane ivan. jacqui jeras, reportin
