but first, abc's jake tapper has more on the president's plan. jake? >> reporter: good morning, george. president obama last night laid out the $477 billion plan that he will formally introduce to congress next week. now comes the selling of the plan, later today in virginia and next week in ohio. 16 times last night, president obama called on congress to pass his bill. >> pass the jobs bill. pass the jobs bill. pass the jobs bill. this plan's for you. >> reporter: it was a call for action to pass a $447 billion plan. more than half of that, in tax cuts. the other $202 billion in spending for infrastructure, to keep teachers on the job, for innovative unemployment insurance programs. what would it mean to you? the biggest single item in the proposal, $175 billion to extend and deepen the payroll tax cut for working families. >> $1,500 that would have been taken out of your pocket will go into your pocket. >> reporter: the speech was un-washington in many ways. aimed more at convincing the american people to push congress than it was relying on his own
