>> well, the answer is really both, jake. under the nuclear agreement, the jcpoa, that is a multilateral party agreement, there have been a number of technical violations. carrying too much inventory, heavy water, having materials that are used to construct high speed centrifuges. under the agreement, which is part of the weaknesses and flaws, iran has a significant period of time to remedy those violations. they have remedied the violations which brings them back into technical compliance. i think that demonstrated pattern of always walking up against the edges of the agreement are what give us some concern as to how far iran might be willing to go to test the limits of the agreement. our response has been to work with the other parties and demand we be much more demanding of the enforcement of the agreement, much more demanding inspections, much more demanding disclosures. that's what we are shifting since we have taken our seat at the table of the joint commission. >> president trump decertified the deal on friday but he d

jake, thanks so much for join joining us on the phone. another update for a lot of people who have been waking up in the last ten minute. three-day music festival in las vegas across the street from mandalay bay. a gunman has apparently opened fire from 32nd floor, a gunman who has been killed. we do not have name or mow tiff at this point but we know he had a high-power automatic weapon and shooting down into a concert that had at least 20,000 people attending, just open fire for a number of minutes into this crowd at about 10:30 last night las vegas time. about 1:30 in the east coast so maybe four hours ago and this suspect opened fire killing more than 20 people at this point, that's the number we have but that is still preliminary, injuring more than 100 and chaos after that, people pulling bodies and injured people out of there trying to get them somewhere where they could save lives and nobody had any idea where this was coming from. they knew bullets were being fired, they could hear it at end of country concert. heather: some dist

jake, thanks very much for coming in. what does it tell you, first of all, there's a lot to discuss, that the condolence called has now all of a sudden over these past few days become so politicized. >> it's really unfortunate. when you have the deaths of u.s. service members like we did in niger, the first thing we should be asking is what you just asked, how do we prevent it from happening again? i have to say, it was president trump who kicked off the politics by falsely claiming that his predecessors don't get involved in talking to the families of the fallen. he did that basically to deflect responsibility from his own silence on this -- this crisis in niger over the past 12 days. so everything that's followed from that has been the result of responding to donald trump's original sin in this, and if the president would just stand up and say, let's take the politics away, let's get to the bottom of this, we'd all be better off. >> yeah. the white house chief of staff, retired four-star marine corps general john kelly,

jake, where are you this morning? >> hi. how are you all doing? i'm still on my tour bus in a parking lot. it's about 300 or 400 yards from the stage. i somehow made it over here from the stage area when the shooting started. it was raining off the top of the stage, hitting trailers, people scattering. it was chaos. i have never and don't ever want to be part of anything like this again. >> of course. what happened? were you playing on stage with jason and how long did it take to figure out what was unfolding? >> i was standing there. i had just come off stage before jason's set is. and i was back out there like we always do. we're all friends out here. and i was out there watching the show, wanted to support him. all of a sudden you just heard a couple of individual -- you would ask yourself, that sounded kind of like a gunshot. the next thing you know it was unloading, no doubt an automatic rifle or machine gun or something you could tell the chaos and the fear in everyone's eyes and demeanor was changed. everyone just started scrambling for any

i'm jake tapper. we're going to start with a briefing at the pentagon where we expect to hear from the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff about new details of that horrific niger raid when four service members were killed. jim sciutto, what are we expecting to hear? >> reporter: jake, and i should say we're less than a minute away from the hearing from the chairman of the joint chiefs. listen, many key questions still unanswered. why 48 hours before they were able to locate the missing body of sergeant la david johnson? was why was he as we reported over the weekend a mile away from the initial site of that ambush and also questions about where those forces were when this am push took place. did they divert from their initiatitheir -- and why are troops putting their lives on the line there? we know that a big portion of it is building a drone base. why are the folks there on the front lines -- >> all right, jim. let's listen in. >> ladies and gentlemen, thanks for the opportunity to speak to you a

jake, thank you for joining us. how are you doing? >> thankfully we're do unfortunately, there's a lot that aren't. it's been a pretty crazy evening here in las vegas. i think we're all still trying to process. >> jake, you had performed earlier. you were not on the stage when this happened. where were you. >> no, i was on the stage. i had just walked up on the stage with a couple friends of mine including one being luke combs, another artist, we were standing 50 feet away from where jason was on stage and all of a sudden you heard what sounded -- you know, it was the thing where, is that gunfire? and it got faster and faster, it sounded like an automatic rifle. you could hear it ringing off the tops of the rafters of the stage. that's when you saw people fleeing and at that point everyone on stage started running everywhere possible. and it was pretty chaotic for sure. >> where seek cover? >> unfortunately, i ran on the opposite direction from where my usual shelter would be which is my bus which was on the opposite side of the stage

just keep everybody in your prayers. >> we will. >> jake, thank you. let's go to clint van zandt, a former fbi profiler. when you see the images and hear the sound of the gunfire, what strikes you as somebody with a trained ear and eye? >> well, first of all, as you've been discussing with your other guests, it seems to be an automatic weapon and, you know, we make a lot in this country about assault rifles but most of the time when law enforcement goes up against something they're going up against a semiautomatic weapon you have to pull the trigger every time. this individual appears, from my experience, it sounds like a fully automatic weapon. and your last guest suggesting that this went on for five to ten minutes. if you realize a magazine has 20 or 30 rounds perhaps, this individual had to have so many magazines of ammunition and have so much time. as you know, something like this is alclcalculated. he figured out how many rounds he could fire and how long it would take law enforcement to respond. that's a terrible mathematics that someone has to

jake. people coming into the hospital hoping to find ouchlt they are directing everyone to the convention center. but people trying to help people that don't live here in las vegas find out what's happened to their loved ones. also talking about some of the ones that did lose their lives and some heroism. we do off duty police officer from san francisco here, etcheber with his wife stacey, told her to run. she lost her life in the attack. then there is also angela gomez of riverside, california, only 20 years old, 2015 graduate from riverside polly klaas, cheerleader there as well. and some people remembering her. her coach remembering her saying that she had her whole life ahead of her. so these are some of the stories of hero wiism and sadness mixed together here. >> and stephanie, you are at the medical center in las vegas, umc, only trauma center in nerve d.a. what do we see with any of the injuries? more than 500 injured and woupded? >> reporter: right. this hospital took in 104 patien
