more on this, joined by jake sherman, politico's senior writer. e we get to medicaid, let's start with this news of the day, potential deal on immigration. what are your sources telling you about the likelihood of a deal? >> i think politico is reporting or my colleague is reporting on twitter that the six senators have come to an agreement but let's be clear about what that means. six people are six people, right. so they need the other 94 people in the senate or at least some good majority of those people to agree to it. they need the leadership to agree to it. john cornyn recently said he hadn't seen the deal and people should share it. and then the big hurdle which is the house of representatives where paul ryan and other republican leaders are going to be under tremendous pressure to resist anything that sniffs of not conservative enough, so that's going to be the big sticking point over the next couple days. i want to keep this in mind because there's a government funding deadline next week about a week from -- eight days from today. the gove
