jake's team is now headed to the playoffs. that's your first look at sports.m fred roggin. >>> now for a quick look at the weather, here is bill karins with the weather channel forecast. are we looking forward to some good weather this weekend for the veterans day holiday? >> i think so. a little mixed. some people are off today. some people get the holiday tomorrow. overall, both days look pretty nice in the east coast. middle of the country is a different story. our friends up in cape cod and boston, yesterday dealt with gusty winds, showers, and this nasty coastal storm. just some clouds left this morning. those will clear out by this afternoon. and we're going to be left with a pretty nice day. temperatures, not too bad. we're in the 40s in most areas. a little cooler up there in albany, new york, at 32. the only windy spot that i've been noticing is boston. winds gusting 30 miles per hour. but that's going to come down as we go throughout the day. so the wind chill this morning, it's not horrible. you still probably need the heavier fall coat or a winter

and our team coverage starts with jake tapper at the white house. jake? >> reporter: good morning, george. some white house officials seem to be preparing for tomorrow's election news with a mixture of dread and eagerness to put an end to what has been a difficult chapter in the obama presidency. with so many things so close and in the closing hours, voters on the campaign trail seem to be getting downright ugly. hello, cleveland, said the president. >> we've got to get cleveland out to vote. we've got to get everybody in ohio out to vote. >> reporter: while the president is urging people to get to the polls tomorrow, the candidates are dealing with some last-minute craziness in the final hours before the election. in alaska reporters at a local affiliate at the republican nominee joe miller accidentally left a voice mail message at miller's spokesman. >> you know that all of the people that will show up tonight, at least one of them will be a registered sex offender. >> we need to find that one person. >> reporter: the manager of the station says the rep

once again, our political team is tracking the news about what is next for american decision making, as we turn first to jake tapper at the white house tonight. good evening, jake. >> reporter: good evening, diane well, in a conference call with supporters late this afternoon, president obama said there was no sense in sugar coating last night's election results. he said, it was tough. mr. obama said every president needs to have a humbling election night to remind them to reconnect with voters. >> i'm not recommending for every future president that they take a shellacking like i did last night. you know, i'm sure they're easier ways to learn these lessons. >> reporter: so what lessons has he learned? president obama expressed a desire to seek common ground with the new congress. >> i am very eager to sit down with members of both parties and figure out how we can move forward together. >> reporter: as is a long established presidential midterm kabuki. >> the people expect us to work together. >> they demanded that a more equally divided congress work more closely together. >> reporter: for this president,

as you said, jake, i spoke to the man whose gavel will, in a sense, be a kind of opening bell when the team of republican incumbents storm the capitol. men and women who will bring their new activism to the house floor, just steps from where i'm standing right now. and the man who will have to work with them as their leader is john boehner. you've been looking at the president's face. do you feel he got the message you felt you were sending? >> there seems to be some denial on the part of the president and other democratic leaders, the message that was sent by the american people. when you have the most historic election in over 60, 70 years, you would think that the other party would understand that the american people have clearly repudiated the policies that they put forward the last two years. >> reporter: and let me just get a sense on a few of these critical issues at this moment, where you stand. jobs. how many new jobs can you create and how soon? >> well, as a former small business person, i understand what's going on, i think, in the business community. and until the uncertainty s
