it has been a soggy weekend around the bay area with rain turning into scattered showers. today. ktvu is james torres shows us some of the mess left behind from this week's storms and how the impact it could have on the california drought. it was pretty loud loud when a tree came crashing down on two cars in front of this pleasant hill home. i heard a big boom and we thought it was a thunderstorm. but when we looked over, it was the three that fell into our streets into our cars thursday and saturday soaked the bay area. rain led to washouts, local flooding and in some cases, property damage favorable . actually they were a little bit more than little showers. john monteverdi is a professor emeritus of meteorology at san francisco state. he says the showers won't wipe out the years long california drought, but it is starting to pack a punch. the last two years have been very dry. we don't need to catch all that up. all we need is a good year to get the reservoir the reservoirs up to a reasonable level, so i would say if we had a normal year this year that would be favorable in the sierra. thes
