austin goolsby has the best voice in anybody in the history of the white house although i hear james buchananeep tenor. he is an economics expert and recently left the administration. in the past, we've heard david axelrod blame president bush for the economic woes and in the past, we've heard bill burton blame republicans and tea partiers and the president saying all three at different times. but i have never quite heard this excuse for the current recession that we just can't shake. listen. >> over that 17 months, we added 2 1/2 million jobs. now, at the beginning of this year, we get earthquakes, tsunamis, revolutions in the middle east, european financial crises, now they even got earthquakes outside of washington, d.c. i mean, we've had a series of things that have put some heavy blows and slowed the economy back down again. >> the d.c. earthquake was a dud. i'm glad that guy wasn't running fema. >> right. >> it just happened. >> i know. you know, there was some damage but thankfully, did it impact the economy? kind of a funny picture of the d.c. devastation that shows some plastic resin

i also want to bring up james buchanan's idea of the government getting larger and larger and there is no way to stop it. mid was one way to prevent the leviathan from getting larger. we have 1 million members. i would say 20% of our members are from the tea party. they say they want a lower tax rate. i say to look at the new reality. what if we give up the mid and 5 or 10 years from now, the tax rate goes up? after thinking that over, and some people change their mind. in theory, the lower tax rate is good. but what happens in the real world? i am always cautious about international comparisons about apples to oranges, but if the mid is removed, there are appreciation and other benefits. i buy a home for my brother, my brother buys a home for me, and they get the mid and depreciation and so what happens? in a heavily populated rental area, there tends to be more rent control and economists would say to have affordable housing, rent control is the most ineffective way to go about it. that could introduce more distortion into the program. the aging population, on and i only want to ment
