i'm reading james clyburn's book, blessed experiences, and i'm also reading about the life of coretta scott king, my life, my love, my legacy about coretta scott king. >> so what inspired these choices? the coretta scott king is great, also looked at it too. >> let me just say then, when coretta was really in the movement, as now, women in particular black women have never gotten the kind of credit we should have gotten for what we did in the movement. women were very integral to the success of the civil rights movement, but you never hear about them. you hear about martin, about malcolm, about those people, but do you hear about coretta? i mean, do you hear about people like dorothy height or mrs. lowery? .. important for me not just as a christian but as a leader to figure out how i find a fish and not expect the fish to always be in the same place, fish always come to me. it struck me as a great read, very tiny book, we have to go into deeper waters. sometimes we go into deep water. james clyburn is my friend, one of the most intelligent people, a great historian, i want to get som

and then james clyburn is my friend. i think it's probably one of the most intelligent people i've ever met. he's a great historian and he's had great experiences so want to just get some understanding of who he is even deeper as a person. what his childhood was like him when he became the man he is and that's why these three books this summer. >> most of these books are centered around history. is that were most of your interest and you find your inspiration from, or do you have other genres that are of interest you? >> i'm big on poetry. i'm big on pros, and so let's say for instance, i were to do the speech, the first thing i would do is start to read a poem or something that strikes me, sometimes in music, mostly i love poetry. so that's inspirational to me. these books are inspirational in a different way. they inspire me to be the kind of people in these books to measure myself against the successes of them to know if i'm going in the right direction. sometimes you look at other people and say i'd like to have that
