with james clyburn.ve he is there, representative james clyburn is there at the watch party. tell us what you are hearing in what the mood is obviously that joe biden is the projected winner, what are you hearing from those in attendance? >> yeah, ayman, you can feel the excitement in the room, even though there was not a question that joe biden will win the state's primary. the fact that he would be winning by a large margin did cause some excitement. the highlight of the night though was representative jim clyburn took the stage to speak. two notable things happened. one, he referenced joe biden's victory in new hampshire and looked into dnc chair jaime harrison's eyes and said, find a way to make sure that those delegates count. this is something that we -- we know that the dnc decided not to have the new hampshire delegates, decided not to hold their primary in south carolina. even more than that, joe biden called in. jim clyburn got him on the phone, and his first question to the people in the room

biden received a key endorsement from the powerful and influential south carolina congressman, james clyburn. that helped biden lockdown support from the black community in a key voting bloc for the democratic party. uninsured his victory in south carolina and beyond. well, this time around, the drama is not about winning south carolina where the democratic nomination, about whether biden can build voter enthusiasm that he needs to win against donald trump in november. in 2020, biden had the overwhelming support of black voters. 87% of whom voted for him compared to 12% who voted for trump, according to exit polls. four years later, they're assigned them through the others flagging among some key groups in the democratic electorate, including some within the black community. a new nbc news poll released this morning shows support for biden dipping to 75% of black respondents, 16% say they will support trump. likewise, muslim and arab americans, younger voters appear to be growing disillusioned over marcus continued support of israel amid its ongoing war in gaza. yesterday's primary in south

james clyburn did an ad recently talking about things like insulin benefit and other things that would affect voters in the pocketbook to try to emphasize the president's accomplishments, but that will be a big question as to how much of that vote will translate. >> what do you think about the potential of a saturday, you know, turnout? i mean, ordinarily during the weekday, you know, going to work is something that stands in the way of people being able to get out and vote. but then you've got a saturday and you've got, you run the risk of some complacency or folks who are like, oh, you know, i'd really rather be doing something else on my day off. so what are the expectations? >> right. well, the whole idea behind saturday primaries, and there are a few states around the country that do this, is that you know, without the competition of having to worry about your workday, the turnout would be higher on a saturday. of course, there are other competing interests that come up on a weekend and especially in a contest where again, the result is not really a, in question. so that less comp
