torres live from the berkeley hills where an engineer says more rain on the way could be a problem. jamesorning to you, andre. we are just outside the tuna college here in the berkeley hills where firefighters tell us this might be the topping point of where that mudslide began. it's kind of hard to see exactly where it all started. they've got some caution tape here, keeping some people out, of course for safety reasons, but if you really zoom in to what we're looking at here, you can kind of see some parts of where some of that dirt has shifted. some of those trees have fallen. you also see a number of water pipes as well. at one point, firefighters told us that it was a bursted pipe. kind of contributed to some of those mudslides and the mitigation that they had to do in order to get the situation under control was to basically reroute that water into a different storm drain away from the slope here, and that is what helped kind of cause some of the mudslides to slow down and some of that dirt to eventually dry out. firefighters say. 14 people evacuated the area. those people were in t

james. thank you knew this morning highway, 13 is open again up in the oakland hills after being closed for almost two days because of a mudslide. sunday night, the saturated hillside on 13 year broadway terrorists led onto the southbound lanes of the highway carrying rocks and a big tree. caltrans crews worked day and night finally cleared the rio road and reopened south 13 lanes this morning around two o'clock. our time now 704 at the recent storms caused major damage along the santa cruz coastline to one of the most scenic locations there. almost three weeks of heavy rain caused parts of west cliff drive the collapse into the ocean and about a mile of that road near lighthouse field. state beach will probably be closed for the next few months. we've had so many storms coming back to back to back that we're just we don't have enough of a dry period and, um, where the swells are lower to try to, you know, do some protection in that area, and people who live in that area have been watching the huge waves crashing on the shore and say they've never seen anything like this. we saw the waves h

east bay this week with one more rain storm on the way people up in the berkeley hills say they are on edge. ktvu jamesres live near mudslide that caused the evacuation of almost a dozen homes in that area. james gasia good morning to you with the birthday fire department responded quickly to that yesterday morning, and they say now, with a dry day today, inspectors can probably go in and have an easier time checking out some of the damage left behind. let's show you some of that damage that we saw yesterday morning city inspectors there put red tags on some of those homes because the landslide yesterday morning might have moved those houses in a dangerous way. berkeley firefighters evacuated about 14 people in the area. they say a survey from a geologist would give them the information they need to decide if more evacuations are necessary. but so far that hasn't happened yet. we spoke to one woman who says the mudslide ruined her home. at the back door. that it was. unusually dark and he looked at the back door, and it was already about four ft. of mud in front of our backdoor us geological survey pro

in an historic 15-ballot vote and kentucky congressman james comer will be here in a moment on that. let's go to aishah hosni live on capitol hill have covered all the back and forth and all the drama. hopefully you got rest. how does it look monday morning? >> speaker mccarthy, which we can call him that now, his first big challenge may come tonight in the form of trying to pass this big house rules package. essentially how the house is going to operate for the next two years. we're already seeing a little bit of opposition. the biggest change in the rules package is really just lowering the threshold for a motion to vacate the speaker to a single member now. most republicans okay with that. mccarthy handed over a number of concessions to appease several hold-outs over the last week. that would impact committee assignments and future spending and that, dana, is what is turning off some members. >> this has a proposed billions of dollar cut to defense, which i think is a horrible idea. >> i support it but what i don't support is a small number of people trying to get a deal done or deals done for themselves in private. so i am o
