latin america has been of interest since james monro decided that america was for the americans over 200 years ago this month before. it now seems to be mostly of interest to the politicians as a source of people freeing the u.s., that throughout our history, the americans have been intertwined. resources, people, new ideas, culture and consequences have blogged up and down the hemisphere. most is unknown in the u.s.. and this is the perfect person to recount the history. she's done that now with respect to the second world war. she is the real deal. she's a journalist who spent years in the region walking its path listening to its ministers but also its person, witnessing its important moments. she was there when they were murdered in a salvador. i sat next to her as we watched guatemala's former dictator's stand for genocide. she knows the region, the plague years, the issues but also the humanity and generosity of people willing to tell their stories, the absurdity of political theater, the narratives of suffering of loss but also solidarity and hope. she has an important story to
