jamie sullivan is here with the details. hi jamie. jamie: we have a commute that's a slow one. i want to run through a lot of the areas where we're seeing the most congestion beginning in maryland. 95 that stretch basically between route 32 and the beltway in both directions we're seeing stop and go. mainly, though the heaviest part is going to be northbound getting to baltimore. same thing on the baltimore-washington parkway, past nasa goddard continuing north, we are seeing the delays. as we move a little bit closer to the beltway, the heaviest spot for you on the inner loop is going to be basically between the american legion bridge and 270 right near the spur, going to take you 15 minutes. that's where you do see most of this red. moving to 66. our commute heading outbound right now jammed inside the beltway. so you got it basically from arlington continuing a little bit closer towards falls church and then once you get outside of the beltway, getting to centreville, stop and go averaging in some spots 10 miles per hour and even single digits in some areas. our commute righ

check of the traffic situation with jamie sullivan. jamie? jamie: some spots only leon. other spots we're down in the single digits. i want to begin taking a look in the d.c. area. freeway delays heading outbound on the 14th street bridge getting closer to 395. top side of the beltway, accident on the outer loop near georgia avenue. typically we see our slowing on the inner loop but both spots this morning -- or this afternoon, i keep doing the morning thing. that's because i'm here both morning and afternoon! but let's talk afternoon commute because in the morning, we definitely don't see this right near cabin john working your way between virginia and maryland. so the congestion but this is typical. some spots here only in the single digits. as we move to talk about your commute outbound on 295. so a missing manhole cover. this is northbound anacostia freeway at burrows avenue. right lane is blocked. take a look in washington, d.c., 14th street near independence avenue. give you an idea. typical afternoon. i say afternoon congestion. back to you! alison: we understand.

leon: let's see how clear things look for jamie sullivan. jamie: wishful thinking. that's what i always hope for in the afternoon. take a look at silver spring. i want to begin here. wayne avenue at fenton street. this is the area in silver spring that you want to avoid. your best alternate will be to use georgia avenue and the actual activity is near the library, washington sports club. let's take a look in this area in silver spring. just to show you the best option which is the alternate. georgia avenue near wayne avenue and you can see, typical for us especially at this time of the afternoon. we are ok. it's good to use it. so our traffic right now pretty heavy in the d.c. area. as you're working your way outbound and inbound on 395 definitely congestion. moving to show you what we've got on d.c. 295. heading outbound from the 11th street bridge almost in the single digits. same thing heading outbound and southbound working your way closer towards the capital beltway. so definitely congestion in the d.c. area. as far as crashes, nothing major in d.c. right now.

jamie sullivan is here with more. hi jamie. jamie: good morning. good morning. i'm used to the morning shift. good afternoon, alison. let's start with traffic. it's pretty heavy for you right now heading outbound on 66 we're seeing a lot of red and yellow. 29 minutes. just under 30 is what it's going to take you to get from the beltway closer to fairfax county parkway. as we shift gears, i want to zoom in a little bit and talk about traffic lights malfunctioning so we've got this on seventh street northwest at madison drive northwest. a lot of lights in the area are out. you want to keep this in mind and make sure if you see any of these lights that aren't working, treat it as a four-way stop. as we move a little closer to bethesda, i want to talk metro so if you do typically get on at the bethesda metro station, it is temporarily closed. that's because of the escalator outage. your alternate medical center and they have buses as well. let's take a live look and i want to show you 66 so where i was showing you some of those delays. we had an earlier accident rig

jamie sullivan is here with details. hi jamie. jamie: you know it's going to be a slow one in most spots this afternoon. i want to begin with a couple of problem spots. of course, we have the nats game under way and you're going to sigh a lot of pedestrian traffic in the area. expect though if you are driving into the area or trying to get out of the area the douglas bridge the freeway, we have some congestion as well on 295. let's take a look at a crash we're working. this one is on the freeway heading eastbound. it's in the clearance stages soon. 47 miles per hour is what you've got heading in on 395. we've mostly cleared out. if you're heading outbound on 395, bumper-to-bumper traffic getting to seminary road. that's where we've got an accident. we zoom in a little bit closer. the crash for you is blocking a lane. now, the backup, well yes, that's there. let's take a look leaving crystal city and working our way southbound. see this big heavy red line. we're not quite in the single digits but averaging about 20 miles per hour i
