colby live here now with more. what do we know about the baby,. jamieing news to say the least, bill, but her hiv mom didn't have proper prenatal care and didn't even know she was hiv positive. in this case not wanting to wait for test results the baby's doctor decided to use an aggressive course of treatment, more than normal for hiv infected inc infants. two and a half years later the doctors have said the disease is undetectable, and said she is cured. she didn't return for childcare, and the mom had stopped the testing. upon retesting the virus was gone. she went back and looked at the tests when the preventative treatment began and they were all positive for hiv. >> my first thought was to panic. i thought, oh my goodness, i have been treating a child not actually infected. >> there is one other reported case of an hiv patient learning their virus had been turned. it was an hiv positive san francisco man who had leukemia and a bone marrow transplant. bill: what can this mean in the world's fight against pea at trick aid and that issue. >> reporter:
